Washington is also a CARB state, but no additional incentive for us.
Yeah it's interesting they picked 10/13 CARB states and added Hawaii (or some parts of Hawaii anyway).

$2,500 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont

According to Wikipedia:

"The states that have adopted the California standards are: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico (2011 model year and later), New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, as well as the District of Columbia."

Close but not a perfect match.
I'm in a CARB state (MD). I want my $2500!

I know most people are comparing Ford Options with a regular lease. But if the incentives are really up to $2500, it may very well make sense to do Options even for those not planning to lease (if the same incentive can't be applied to regular financing.) It would likely mean a higher interest rate, but $2500 would more than make up the difference.
The Ford website did most of the calculations for me (but only on the MSPR, not the X-plan pricing):

Annual Miles12,000
Rate2.25%
Total Price of Car$56,040.00
Ford Finance Credit-$2,500.00
Net Price of Car$53,540.00
Down Payment$22,000.00
Deposit$500.00
Amount Financed$31,040.00
Payment$251.56
Total of 36 payments$9,056.16
3-year cost$31,556.16
Balloon$24,097.20
Total Paid$55,653.36

With the Option and as big of a down payment as it would let me enter, the sum of the deposit, monthly payments, and the balloon was less than the up-front cost. And it significantly defers when you have to pay for a big chuck of the cost.

I doubt I'd lease but if this is the math when my car arrives, I can't see why I wouldn't do the Options.

The $2,500 incentive and 2.25% interest rate are of course key. With $22.5k down, the $2,500 more than covers the interest charges. With about $6k down, it's about $700 shy of covering them.

Of course now I just went through the X-plan stuff, found a AWD ER Premium at a dealer and clicked the "See Monthly Payments" plan. I couldn't figure out how to show Options but it looks like (until 1/4) they're offering 0.9%/0.9%/1.9% on 36/48/60 month financing with $2,500 Bonus Cash.

Ford Mustang Mach-E A, Z, X plan discount pricing for Mach-E 1609743335452

With the same $22,500 down, $649*48 = $31,152 + $22,500 = $53,652 which saves $1,895 off the full X-plan price.

Can't return the car at 3 years but a better deal than the 2.25% Options rate.

Hmm, Is there a minimum you can finance? I am getting a Select, I wonder if I put $40k down if I still get the $1000 incentive at .09% over 36 months. Could finance the remaining $8k or so and keep interest payments under the $1000.

Is it worth the hassle?

Hopefully tomorrow 1/5 the new incentives will be the same or better for all. I am waiting with baited breath to see what they will be. I am hoping for NJ it stays $2500, but usually my luck dictates different outcomes.

If you are doing the Non-Options APR financing there is no minimum to finance that I know of specifically for the APR programs (the standard minimum amount to finance rules apply).

As of now the $1000/$2500 Ford Options Bonus Cash is only if you do Ford Options (not combinable with the normal APR rate programs i.e. 0.9% rates).

There is a max down payment for Ford Options of 25% but it could be flexible up to 30% down.

Once your ordered vehicle arrives at the dealer it becomes dealer stock.

If you want to put more than 30% down, but still do Options to get the extra $2500 incentive, I guess nothing is stopping you from applying a big chunk of money to principal a week later?

Here's how it worked when I bought my '17 F150:
I had to finance a minimum of $10K in order to get the incentive. IIRC, the incentive was only $1200 back then, so for a $2500 incentive, the minimum may be higher. the APR was somewhere in the 4.x range. The business manager at my dealer told me "Please don't pay this off in less than 120 days or else we (the dealer) have to pay back the incentive."

So I paid about $9K on my first payment and the entire loan was paid off with the 4th payment (120 days later).

I'll need to check this out once my MME gets here.

The whole purpose of the incentive is to get people on the hook for the loan. Most people will simply make the payments for the life of the loan, even if they have intentions of paying it off early!

That's true. As stated above the dealer can get penalized if you pay off the whole loan too early, but paying down a chunk should be fine.

So really, if you're planning to finance, you should look into doing Options instead if the total incentive is more than the savings in interest.

I'm leaning really heavily on on terms and incentives being BETTER. I know Ford has heard from some dealers about the residuals on the options and lease plans and the lack of lease cash. Ford has no responsibility to make it better but it sure would be nice.
