Android Auto getting EV battery information integrated into Google Maps (starting w/ Mach-E)

Android Automotive adds Chrome app, Android Auto gets deeper EV integration

First cars to get it: Mach-E and F150 Lightning.

This is fantastic news. Both Apple and now Google have EV integration with Ford vehicles as the development partner. It makes me even more happy I chose the Mach E over everything else. For the time being, we have exclusive features that no other EV owner has.

This feature already exists with CarPlay and Apple Maps on the Mach-E, so the interfaces might already be there. Good chance it's all on Google's end to enable.

As an aside there were articles back in August that Google Maps will stop showing gas stations for EVs. Does anyone's Android Auto actually hide gas stations for them? Mine still shows them. The category search also shows both gas stations and chargers.

Last I noticed, mine was still showing Gas stations. It gets regular updates.

Did you update your EV settings on the google maps app? I've been able to search for those from the main screen for a while now.

If they could only add it into car play with Google maps it would be great. I personally like Google maps better than Apple's maps.

Sounds like a nice little improvement for those of us who use Android Auto.

Any chance this will also trigger a HVB precondition while navigating with Google Maps - as opposed to only the Ford Nav now?

Yes, Android Auto telling the car to condition the battery X miles before charger destination would be a good feature to have.

This is great news.

My question is - what else could potentially be integrated with Android Auto? Anything via OBD2? It would be really great for the nerds to be able to see battery temp, charging, etc.
