I will smash out the window before rigging up a wire thingy. This is just ridiculous and needs to be fixed!

I wonder if Ford would cover the cost of replacing a window if the window was broken to rescue an infant locked in the car as a result of this issue.

@Ford Motor Company
You need a jump start from a suitable device. Those little JNC jump boxes AAA caries are not enough. Ask them to hook up jumper cables to the battery in their truck with the engine running, wait 10 minutes to recharge yours, and then attempt a start.

You can also buy a NOCO boost jump starter and use that (use manual override mode, see manual).

If you still are having glitches, disconnect the 12V again for 5+ minutes, reconnect, and immediately jump start while pressing the start button.
@Mach-Lee Do you think there's any good way to install remote battery terminals that would be accessible and allow a jump without access to the frunk?

@Ford Motor Company Of all the things I've been reading about Mach E ownership, not being able to get into my car without a tow scares me the most - LVB dead enough to not open the doors, but not dead enough to open the Frunk. Tying a string around the front door handle seems like the only viable option, but it's not a good option.

I can't believe the 9 months between my 2023 build in June and my incentive-driven purchase end of March 2024 did anything good for the health of the LVB; I'd be curious to know how many of the 2023's having this problem were sitting around a dealer lot for months before the Spring sales push.

I will be able to answer that question if and when I get my car back from FORD. It has now been in the shop for over 2 months.

I just disabled auto update, waiting for Ford to finally fix this damn bug. They really need to hire some REAL software engineers.

I thought long and hard on it prior to just putting my jump point on the driver’s side beauty panel under the frunk lid. I could not think of a good place that was safe. The only spots I could think of were under the car, which really weren’t good for me. I am still planning a mechanical frunk release, but I have so many other projects that are more important to me. ?‍♂?

That would be pointless IMO because if you have equipment for jumping a car, you can already open the frunk with that equipment, no modifications needed. Once the frunk is open it only takes an additional 2 minutes to removes the covers to jump the 12V battery, not a big deal.

Reminder: The present issue with 2023 and 2024 vehicles not unlocking is not caused by bad 12V battery. Adding remote jump points will not help in that situation since the 12V battery is not dead.

Finally got my car back yesterday morning. A bad 12v battery is the only thing they could identify, so now I have a new one.

I had to wonder if that OTA update that reset some peoples charge targets and threw some errors about the 12v had anything to do with this, but that's grasping as straws to some degree.

The whole episode sent me down a YouTube rabbit hole about 12v batteries and EVs in general. How sediment is more likely to accumulate in the batteries plates since there aren't high output moments like cranking an ICE engine at startup, which can lead to degraded energy storage over time.

Seemed like something that can happen on a lot of EVs, but they all have other ways of accessing the car...

It may not solve the problem, but I am going to look at a battery tender to hopefully decrease the chances of this happening to me again in another 6 months.

Always Be Charging...I would think should be all you need to keep the LV battery up. It has been my standard operating procedure since Feb 23.......anecdotal I know.

Keep the App and the keys out of range when you are home. This small thing has really kept my car much more quiet (no more relays clicking) when Im in the garage....and now the car greets me when I go to the garage with key in hand.
