I realize this is not a Ford “thing”, but instead Apple Maps…

The other morning I got into my MME and started it up. 74%. I entered the location I needed to go into Apple Maps. Then I added my sons’ school as a stop along the way so I could drop them off. It added 3 miles to a 9.7 mile trip.

and to my surprise it also added an EV charging stop.

why???

I’ve seem this happen several times now.

Anyone know why? Or how to stop it?
And another strange thing about the Apple Maps experience is that if I press “edit trip”, I can tap to remove either of the locations I entered, but I cannot remove the charging stop!

open to thoughts about what’s going on.
thanks

Usually when this happens to me it is because it thinks I will end up at my destination with less than X number of miles of range or less than a certain SOC. I have the car set to warn me at 20 miles of range, but there's nothing in iOS or Maps that lets me set a preference. I think it just defaults to 20% SOC. For the most part, I ignore the suggested charging stops.

I’d be ok with it if the SOC was anywhere close to 20%… in this case it’s > 50+%

And id love to ignore it, however since I can’t remove that stop it keeps routing me to the charging stop. So then I end the trip and restart with my final destination.

Not the biggest deal but doesn’t make sense.

Turn off the suggested EV charging stops by selecting "Different Car" instead of your Mach-E which is normally selected in Maps on your phone.

It is annoying big time, rerouting you all the time. I called Ford about it and they said that it was fixed in an update and had me check make sure I had the latest one. I did the updates and it doesn't do it no more.

I just select a different car when this happens. It’s really easy to do on your phone

Apple just keeps making cameras that you can text with that’s why.

If I know the route I'm on, I just ignore the suggestions. Or, as other people have suggested, go into your phone and select a different car so it doesn't try to route you to charging stations.

Maps is using the last known charge level in your vehicle. If you charge overnight and the phone hasn't picked up the current charge level in CarPlay, it may add a charging stop.
When I parked last night, my vehicle was at 18%. If I try to navigate to work on my phone right now, it is adding a charging stop based on a starting charge of 18% even though the MME is currently at 90%. My phone won't pick that up until it connects to the vehicle via CarPlay and even then it may take a minute or two to pickup the current charge.
