Arrival SOC: Google maps Android Auto Integration

I have probably been butting up against it thinking I would arrive under 15% but really the +/- range ends up being around 20%.

Really if it would just let us select a % we are comfortable with like ABRP does that would fix the issue. But I will say it is accurate over the course of the drive, just can be annoying when it tries to add stops I don’t need.

Yes it would be nice to select the ending SOC % with what we are comfortable with.

Below are some recent screenshots of CP starting from Sacramento airport to my home. Starting SOC was at 71%. CP always shows me 3 routes and depending on the speed limits and distance, they can vary a lot. The shortest time (just under 2 hours) is the first one because it is mostly freeway so the speed averages 65-70 mph but it is also a longest distance (115 miles) giving me a destination SOC of 15%. The others are much slower rural roads (never over 55) and a shorter distance (under 100 miles) with longer travel times (over 2 hours) giving me a higher destination SOC.

Have to use an OBDII dongle and then it can get data the same way.

Though 3.80 mi/kWH seems to be my accurate number for summer trips at least.

It's not the ongoing accuracy, it's the initial estimate.

While preplanning I have had it say I will arrive at the first charging stop at 12% only to arrive there at 40%.

I find Carplay/Maps accurate for short distances. For Long distances it is pessimistic and makes you stop more often.
In the other hand, the build in navigation is a bit too optimistic for long trips and would give me some range anxiety (just me, thinking that chargers wont be available with low range).
I still prefer Carplay maps and sometimes switch when “I want a second opinion” ??
With Google maps, it would be interesting to see yet a 3rd and hopefully more accurate estimate. But, I believe Apple maps is getting better so maybe it will improve over time.

I wish the built in nav at least had a way to monitor and see arrival soc% on the main nav screen. I like to keep tabs on my arrival Soc% so I can adjust my driving if I’m getting to low etc. despite assumptions, Ford nav won’t show that like how Apple Maps does on IOS. You can however dig into the trip overview, then tap details and see arrival soc% but what a pain that is while driving.

Sadly the Apple version also likes to tell me it’s impossible to make is somewhere without stopping to charge that I can make with 20% remaining.

It’ll update and correct itself as you drive, but the original estimation seems way more pessimistic than the built in navigation.

I have always heard the apple integration isn't as magical as advertised and to fall back on ABRP or the built in

A little off the topic but when trying the handsfree button to set a destination via Android Auto, a few days ago I got the response "Navigation not available". My dad's got a 24 GT, no built in nav??‍, do they not integrate AA for the voice button? My dad is elderly and using the touch screen isn't an option for him while driving.

Did you long press the button so that you were taking to Android Auto rather than Sync?
If you enable "hey Google" on your father's phone he wouldn't even need to press the button.

I was not aware of the "long press", I'll try that next chance I get. ? I haven't set up his phone for voice response yet because he doesn't really use it for anything beyond calls; despite being an electrical engineer for 40 years, he doesn't grasp digital tools at all well. Thanks!

How does AA know the starting SoC to enable it to determine the arrival SoC?
