Took possession of my Mach E with the extended range battery just under a year ago. Overall very few minor glitches so we’ve been lucky. Charged it at home Wednesday night to 100% for a road trip Thursday morning. The range was just over 300. Within five minutes of leaving our house , the range at 100% dropped to 258. Charged the car six times over the course of the weekend to between 80% and 90% each time but the range was never over 260 after determining what 100% would have been. Reset with the range button, and it jumped to the higher range but dropped again as soon as I started driving. Has something happened to the battery. Anyone else experiencing this?

Not your battery - just the algorithm for the GOM. The more realistic view is your average mi/kWh. If you are averaging greater than 3.0 around town then range may indicate over 270. If you are doing a lot of highway driving average goes down and so will range indication. I started summer with range of about 260 at 90% with mostly around town. Been mostly doing a 30 mile round trip highway in hills now to pick berries and show less than 240 at 90%. Just the way it works. Drops down to 180 or so in the winter at 90% but that is another story.

Was the initial range drop after leaving your house with a destination in the navigation? If so, then it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do, and that was explained in update notes earlier this year - adjusting range based on conditions, road going up or down, speed, etc.

Just start putting more miles on the car. There is a learning/comfort curve. The more you drive, the more you will understand your EV mileage peculiarities. As well as familiarizing yourself with the GOM (Guess O Meter), a really good thing is to do some public charging. Happy Trails!

1) what model, standard or extended range. RWD or AWD 2) I assume you were Highway driving - at what speed 3) what is your day to day driving like and how often do you take advantage of the exhilarating acceleration.
