I had a similar issue with my recently delivered MME GT. I had also asked my dealer to perform all necessary software upgrades and they confirmed these were done.

I took delivery on 12/30 and yesterday took a trip on a documented BC route to test hands-free. All the BC functions like lane assist, lane change, predicative speed worked, but no hands-free. I spent 45 minutes with Ford CS later in the day and confirmed that the map update was expired as reported by others. The rep insisted that there was nothing that could be done other than wait for Ford to release the map update with no particular timeframe for the update.

I saw this thread this morning and performed the update and Voila it gave me a date of 13-4-2023 (European date format). I still have to test hands-free, but am confident it will work.

I have owned the the MME for a week and have called Ford BEV support on several occasions about multiple issues. So far, I have not been impressed by the level of support and actual ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues. One of the issues was a serious ( potentially deadly) error with the Ford navigation software. Telling you to take a left turn onto a major thoroughfare where no left turn is allowed and could potentially lead to a fatal accident.

I’ve spent 30+ years in the software industry and no when I am being BS’d. Ford has to step up their game as they go beyond being just an auto manufacturer to also a software company.

Thanks for listening. This was my first post and really appreciated the forum as a real world way to address issues.

I have this same issue! Going to try this later on today!
Edit : just tried the 10 cycles... didn't wait long between each cycle (just till lights were off) and just wraped the key in aluminum foil to stop the signal. How do you know its updating? Just wait a while with car off and see if the bluecruise date changes?

I attempted the instructions with no sign of an update. 30min drive then 10x On/Off with 2min waiting. I’ll watch my vehicle for the next few days.

You have to be on 3.5.2 or newer. I found that out when I tried all these steps and it didn't work. Turns out my 3.5.2 is stuck pending and won't come down so it'll probably be a dealer trip.

My version is "411". My car is at the dealer now. Was there for 2.5 hours before they decided to keep my car and just get me a ride home.

We took delivery the day before Christmas Eve and immediately noticed Hands Free wouldn't work but rest of BlueCruise would. However, that issue was tied into what I thought was a related problem in that my Connectivity Settings would not expand to make selections (so weather, traffic, charging station data was not turned on in Nav). Although I did occasionally get the option to change those settings, including after I pulled Fuse #11, but most of the time my ability to expand Connectivity Settings does not work. So week between Christmas and New Years, I called Ford and they eventually put me in touch with their "IT Dept". In the end, they gave me a case # but all they would tell me is take it to a dealership, which are extremely backed up around my city. I am still waiting to have it be seen in late Jan!

I think my discussion of the Connectivity Settings in the above thread may have overshadowed the BlueCruise problem. However, I will try these steps to see if this solves my problem. Keeping fingers crossed.

How come they are just now figuring out these newly delivered cars were not setup properly?? Ridiculous we have to figure this out on a public forum vs calling Ford or waiting 3 weeks to be seen by a dealership. Although my guess is when I called Ford 2 weeks ago they were not aware of this fix, since this thread just started on Friday.

I agree 100%. I contacted my dealer about this fairly early on and told them I was happy with the car as mechanically it seems sound but I need these extra features turned on that I paid for!

So my map and bc updated to new expiration dates, but BC still isn’t working. I drove 5 hours on highways it has worked on in my old MME and nothing.

the date they use there is DAY-MONTH-YEAR so that map was good until DEC 10 2022


I had the map update issue on the care I took delivery on, I was stuck on this date too. The instructions the OP posted worked for me to update the map to April 2023 but Handsfree Bluecruise is still not activating for me on roads that it should work on. Not sure what I should try next. I do not feel like getting the dealer involved. I am hoping it just starts working on its on after I put some miles on the car

I finally got the 3.5.2 Powerup today and the maps are now updated! Have yet to take it out on the highway and see if the Handsfree is working or now, but will do so in the morning. Here's hoping!

FWIW - I tried the on/off thing twice without luck. The car itself was showing no updates available, but Ford's website said I had both a software update and a map update available. Made sure I drove the car for 30 minutes this morning and had the scheduled update time set for this afternoon.

Yes, I am hoping for you. ;) So how did you check to see which powerup you have again? Still not sure how to do that.
