Tried Blue Cruise for the first time. It's pretty good, but seems to have a lot of "micro" adjustments. We ended up giving up after a bit as it was making my wife car sick. Anyone else face this? Just not quite as smooth as I was hoping and likely won't be using much if it causing passenger nausea.

Was really excited about it but not overly impressed. Does it get better and settle in or my expectations too high?

Not sure if an update improved it, but I also read and tried setting the lane centering to low, it adjusts less aggressively.

Yep. I have noticed it does that too.
If my wife looks at her cell phone while I am driving with BCHF then she may get nauseous. She doesn't have any issues using her cell when I am steering manually.

Just like when normal driving; lanes and parts of the road aren’t perfect, neither are human drivers. You will find that Bluecruise will makes an infinite number of micro corrections along the pre mapped sections because it’s programmed to stay within a certain set of parameters and is always calculating its moves. If passengers are getting nauseous, it most likely has nothing to do with BlueCruise, and more to do with the difference between ICE/EVs. It’s also possible that they already had motion sensitivities to begin with, or, are affected by the lack of sounds canceling each other out. I have had young, old, male, female, ICE and EV drivers, etc through the whole spectrum in my car when using BlueCruise and no one complains about the actual movements the car is doing.

Agreed. I should've clarified, she is fine when I'm driving without blue cruise, it's just the minor adjustments that I think are somewhat smoothed out manually driving. Might also try if there's a lane centering sensitivity.

Uh huh. Or maybe Bluecruise is ping-ponging between the lane lines, which has been commonly reported here.

Yep, Teslas do that too. Same with my 2020 Edge ST and 2020 Explorer ST both with lane centering. Nothing is perfect and it’s operating as intended even if that doesn’t meet everyone’s expectations of what they think it can do. But I will say, on weird sections of I-5 it’s actually impressive to see how good it is compared to those around me who don’t have BC. ????‍♂

I really hope you’re wrong and it’s not actually designed to work like this. When it goes into ping-ping mode (which is not the majority of the time for me) it’s not acceptable and I have to turn it off for fear of looking like a distracted driver. My Kia Telluride stays centered much better than my MME so I know it’s possible.

Hyundai/Kia have been praised for years now on their highway driving assist; It’s one of the best out there when comparing to other hands-on driver assist tech. The MME also has an algorithm that learns your steering/lane habits and will adjust your lane position based on how you drive.

The worst lane bounce mine does is on 90 westbound towards Bellevue and Seattle but only ever does maybe two or three before straightening out. My guess is there’s also a lot of metadata that BC sends back to Ford in order for it to become better at correcting its faults.

Adolescents with friends in the car and those who should hang up their driver’s license (too old to be driving) worry me more than a few bounces in the lane. But that’s just me. ??

I do notice the ping-pong on occasion, but it’s pretty subtle. I doubt an external observer would notice it. There have been a few instances of complex traffic situations where I’ve placed my hands on the steering wheel, ready to intervene, even though BlueCruise HandsFree was engaged and doing the steering, just in case the situation became “too challenging” ? I’ve never had to take over from BlueCruise HandsFree. Of course, I’ve had it fall back to hands-on.

Well, I guess I never knew I was comparing MME's lane centering to the gold standard. And I definitely didn't know that the MME has an algorithm like you described. I need to learn more about this. Anyway, thanks, and let's hope that Ford continues improving this with OTAs!

This ^^^

I think many are looking for reasons to not like it. I mentioned the car sickness to my wife and she said "oh, from your driving?" HA! Seriously, she said, "nope, noticed nothing as your passenger".

I’ve noticed washing the windshield/cameras with the wiper spray helps with ping-pong or off center driving when in BlueCruise sometimes. If the cameras can’t see well they don’t do as good of a job. Dusty windshield and high or direct sunlight seems to be what affects my BC the most. Mine is pretty much smooth all of the time though, passengers never notice unless they look at me and see me without hands.
