I live in Florida and obviously it’s hot. Anytime I go into the office and then leave a few hours later my center screen will be blank. It is usually hot to the touch on the back and will not reset until I’ve driven for several minutes and the car is cool. I’ve tried using a sunscreen combined with a cover for the center screen (Tesla cover since none available for Ford) and it hasn’t helped. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a resolution? Should I pre condition the car before leaving. It’s odd that it only happens at the office. Never has happened when out at a store but those are also shorter durations. I’m going to be screwed one day if this happens at the same time as an AC off glitch.

Hey there! I can look into your Mach-E’s screen concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

Can't imagine covering the screen would help cool it down. I'd think the windscreen cover would be a better option. My Silver folding screen came with a reflective steering wheel cover, I put that on the back of the SYNC screen to 'help'

The sunscreen should be enough. I think you should file a warranty claim and get it replaced.
It is pretty hot here too and my screen has never gone black.

Covering would definitely help if the UV rays from the glass roof are causing it to overheat. The windshield screen wasn’t helping. The cover was just a test and it didn’t help either.

Thought the Windscreen/Pano roof both had extra UV protection (hence the issue with Toll roads etc.). I know I can't see into the car at night when my security cams are on IR (Yes I know, not UV)

It does block UV it but I wanted to be sure it wasn’t cause by UV especially since the side windows were downgraded to tempered glass. I’m going to schedule service.

I read that they might not have used an automotive grade display of n some cars. Automotive grade is certified for hot car temps. Maybe get the dealership to replace

Same here in Berlin, Germany. I’ve had two black screens, both happened when it was particularly hot (32C+/90F+) and the car had been parked out on the drive for several hours. I had to reboot using the volume down/skip forward steering wheel button reset trick (or whatever the button sequence was). Of course, not such a big issue in Germany where hot days are less frequent than Florida but it would indicate a potential weakness/flaw in the screen.

I've had a few times where I needed to restart SYNC using the steering wheel, due to the screen turning off within a minute or so of starting the vehicle.

I can't think of a time when the screen remained off when starting, though?

@dtbaker61 had an issue on his vehicle very soon after he first purchased it, which if I recall, followed the same symptoms as yours. He brought it to a dealer, they replaced the screen, and his has been fine since then. (Correct me if I'm incorrectly recalling this, Dan.)

Thanks all. I have an appointment to take it in first week in august. Has been doing it since day one so there is obviously something not right. Even if I reset on the steering wheel it will not reboot until it has cooled down.

The Polestar 2 rental I have is constantly telling me the center display is set to cooling as it is too hot (whenever it is in direct sunlight.) As others have said the MME shouldn't be doing that.

This is correct, I have had no repeat problems after the screen was replaced. It does get super hot, but does not black out

I am considering making a little solar screen and some two-sided tape for the back of the display to intercept the direct Sun hitting the back of the display above the dashboard which may reduce the Heat, but have not been inspired to follow through on that yet since the display doesn't fail

My concern is that it still gets so hot I would imagine that the life of the electronics inside will be somewhat Limited
