Not really. For example check the instructions of Clippercreek or Juicebox which are the other major brands. They have pigtail wires that require connection to the feed line with wire nuts inside an external electrical box.That isn't really a unique feature to ChargePoint. All hardwired EVSEs are like that. At least every one that I have seen.
Chargepoint has little levers on the board where you connect and latch the feed wires. It is very easy to hardwire Chargepoint. No nuts, no pigtail and no external electrical box is needed.
