Anyone done this? I want to safely make a 100 foot 30am extension cord to run off a dryer plug. What would the process be for doing this and ensuring the right plugs are used?
First, a 30a rated 100 ft rv cord is probably 10 awg. This is on the edge of ok with a 24a continuous load. It it's much more reasonable to source an 8 AWG cord.

Alternatly just run lower amps. You will already need a "charger" with settable amps. Get one that will allow you to run at 16a 240, which should be reasonable for 10awg.

Running 50a 240v happens all the time including runs longer than this. I have seen it with temporary grids for festivals. Spider boxes, cali twist connectors. That usually includes continuous load (ac units). These units are ul rated just commercial not consumer.

Don't put in the wrong extension cord. Don't use a substandard plug or socket. Pay attention to the power draw.

"It's not safe" is more like "if you have too ask, it's not safe. It can be done safely."

I see warning #2 states to not use an extension cord. I believe that answers one of your questions.
I'm pretty sure every EVSE maker puts that on there, just to keep people from accidentally using thin extension cords that can't handle the load. I've used an extension cord (sometimes two), and it works fine, assuming you get heavy gauge.

I'm curious then why the Ford app is showing 1.5 kW being drawn. Well, allegedly showing. Haven't seen a screenshot showing it.
Here you go. Finally used the charger again. Showing between 1.4 and 1.5 today.

I would strongly advise against the dryer plug option. Had a electrical fire that ruined my first Grizzle-E charger from that setup. Went with a hardwired afterwards, no complaints.
