Clicking sound while turning

I was just informed that the required one-time use bolts needed to install my new front half-shafts are on backorder, with no eta. Dang!

Is there any way to get them to give me an electric loaner instead of a gas one?

You can ask, but doubtful. Your best bet is to just ask they cover your gas, which they generally will do.

No, it appears replacing the half shafts fixed the problem permanently.

Thanks mike. How long did diagnosis take for you? My dealer said it could take 1-2 days. Problem is, this is our only car so I can’t be out of a car. I work remotely so I plan to work from the dealer and just drive it around while parts come in.

I took it in to the dealer and handed them the SSM below. It took them less than an hour to confirm the issue, and they returned the car to me to drive until the parts came it. About two weeks later they called me to schedule an appointment to replace the half shafts. So easy.

Thanks Mike. This is gonna be my second dealer I’m trying so I’ll print that out and hand it to them. It occurs mainly on the left side when making a U turn. Right turns don’t make the noise from my testing. Hoping it’ll be a quick diagnosis.

Try to get them to replace both sides. If the defect is on one side, it is likely on the other as well.

Had that same problem they replaced the right front axle.

I hate to say it, but it is most apparent when turning, and sharp left turns are more common than sharp right turns. Like an aggressive U-turn, which is when I first realized I had the defect. But if you do a similar maneuver to the right, I bet you get the same sound.

Replacing both should be standard procedure.

Went in this morning and waited for them to diagnose. They ended up ordering the parts per the SSM. Going back on Friday morning to have it installed. Thanks again for your guidance

I might have this cropping up again. I noticed this morning I'm getting a grinding click on hard lefts. Something magical about Flagstaff I guess. My swaybar makes so much noice I have started grinding my teeth again.

I don't have the receipt which shows how many hours they charged Ford, but they were finished with my car in about two hours. It was much faster than I expected. I think it depends on when they actually start and if they don't get sidetracked while working on your car.

Got to the dealer right at 7AM open and car was done at 11AM. Sounds fine as I’m driving and testing it. Wooo
