I have had my mach e for about 3 weeks. I normally charge at home but decided to try the local DC fast charger with the free charging event with Electrify America. This was a 150kw station. I charged from 24% to 72% in 1hr and 22min. This seems considerably slower than many of the reported times. Any suggestions as to why I saw this rate?

Because you were not charging anywhere near the 150. It displays on the charger screen during charging. Too many EA chargers have issues. Switching to a different charger sometimes fixes the issue.

Yup got to check to see how much it’s pulling. If it’s not in the 100 range switch. Also keep in mind that you could be sharing with someone else if they were also charging.

I use EA chargers weekly, I’ve only had a poor charge once.

Which location? Many of the ABB chargers in the Phoenix area are limiting to 30kw. It appears the cable chillers are broken in those units.

I charged in Williams at a 350kw Signet unit and went 22% to 80% in 25 minutes. I have the ER battery.

There are new Signet units at the Premium Outlets near Loop 202 and I-10. Those are 150kw.

Sometimes unplugging the charger and plugging it back in after a minute will reset the charger and it will give you the correct speeds.

Extended range VS Standard range also makes a speed difference, but not as much as you had.

Thank you all. I will go back and try it again and pay more attention to the charging rate. Appreciate the advice.

Car will only pull 150kw, so a 350kw charger won't go any faster "technically" than a 150kw charger. Guess it could be possible that a 350kw could get you closer to 150kw.

Only mentioning that so the OP does not seek out 350kw chargers.. Anything 150kw, or higher, will give you the charge you need.

I've heard about the most issues happening with EA 350kw chargers. But in general at 150kw chargers, it takes 20-30 minutes to get to 80%. Just got home from a charge session earlier and it was from 15-82% and took about 30 minutes.

If it takes significantly longer and is pulling less than 100kw when you're around 0-40ish% there may be an issue with the charger.

This was from my free charge I did on Friday. 59kWh in 37 minutes (from 16% to 80%), showing a current charge of 13kW down at the bottom left there. At 80% the car goes to a painful 13kW charge rate, Ford should adjust this curve IMO, at least in the extended range.

So you want to look for that number to be in the 100's. Typically if I break 100kW I'm good with it, if its under 100 then I'll typically switch bays.

Actually, 24-72% SOC in 22 minutes seems normal. I usually get 20-80% in just under 30 minutes.

However, the 350 units provide around 165kW in the first couple of minutes and the rest of the curve is often a little higher on 350s than 150s.

Funny, I did the same thing. First DC fast charge since it was free. I charged from 50% to 80% in about 16 min on an EA 150kw charger. I normally charge (@home) to 90% but when it hit 80% on the EA charger I remembered all those initial charging videos (Kyle from Inside EV's) that it essentially limps after 80% so I unplugged. **On the up side, the charging went perfect!!! No issues.

We did our first 150 kW EA last week. We there was another car there too. Took my Select from 30-80% in 25 mins. Were there other cars charging at the same time? When heavily used, many throttle back the units as they do not size the service to handle the full power of every charger. Wait until there are more EVs on the roads, more chargers being used at the same time……

In about 10 different sessions at 10 different stations I have never seen higher than 126. Never.
