"Winter" in East TN was fine. Very little snow but some cold temps. Yes, still took a range hit but it was very manageable.

PS. coming from the Chicago area, this hardly qualifies as a winter

Things that are "jack of all trades" are always masters of none. Having season specific things is masterful. That's the appeal! Summer home, summer car, summer fling...etc.
That also sounds like a lot of extra maintenance… Especially the third one!

That said, I’m not opposed to some specialization, I’m a big fan of winter specific tires for instance

My understanding is ABRP mi/kWh already factors in temps (assuming subscription and enable live weather). So it'll still report 3.4 mi/kWh in the summer.
Ah, good point, it does try to normalize for ambient temp. But it doesn’t normalize for tire type or aux usage, so at least it is showing good baseline range on winter tires.

Temperatures this winter plunged into the mid 40’s overnight and the 50’s during the day. When snow hit the mountain we dropped into the 30’s overnight.

Winter was brutally mild.

Easy, it gets Cold here in the Panhandle! 1 or two nights a year we get to 30-32 and we may even have to suffer with highs only in the 40s! Those days we have to cover our plants with blankets! I lived in Michigan for 20 years and we never covered our plants! You don't want any part of our cold!

Well, barely 10 miles put on this GT PE beast since Thanksgiving. Iowa has brutal winters... -20F with wind chills -60F! I didn't elect to buy winter / all season tires, and want to keep it pristine - not drive in snow, ice, salt / sand roadways, or even in the rain. Still colder than normal next few weeks so likely not take it out until end of April.

Bought my AWD ER in spring 2021. Summer range was 270-300 miles. In the winter this decreased to around 170-180 miles (mostly short city drives, no preconditioning). The cold weather limits range, but the heating (even only set to 66 F) is even worse for range.

Driving was a non-issue in snow and slick weather. The car responds well and i never had to switch out of 1PD mode.

The MME is my wife’s car and she garaged it during inclement weather. She avoided the salted CT roads.

I live in Saint Paul, MN and yes I drove my AWD ex Mach E all winter. I also installed 18" select wheels and 225/60/18 winter tires.

First I will say the car performs extremely well and the AWD system is great. Also being electric it "starts" on even the coldest days.

Battery life on average it takes a 30% hit in battery performance in the winter. If you do all short trips it is a bigger hit.

Road trips even on the coldest days it performs well. I drove it at -22 air temp and it went 180 miles on a charge. When temps were a bit more reasonable (around 0) 200+ miles on a charge

A thought on the GOM that thing is not very accurate in the winter. I am getting to the point where I stop watching it and only watch average miles per kWh. the road trip day it showed 120 miles or range and went 180 miles.

Overall I think it does very well but can imagine the general public will not like that range drops so much in the winter.

We live in a suburb of Chicago so the winters can be rough. I've only had one car which I didn't drive in the winter and that was my Garage Queen 2002 Thunderbird. She was stored in a heated garage in a "Car Bag." The Mach E saw action everyday and was fine around town. It got covered with road salt so I had to keep washing it off. Taking it to my daughter's house was another matter. We could no longer make the road trip on a 100% charge and my wife refused to take it alone because she didn't want to stop at an EA DC EVSE so the Acura MDX saw a lot of action going there. My mileage wasn't cut in half but damn near close to it. I'm looking forward to warmer weather and an increase in range so we can go back to taking it. My Mach E was bought as a daily driver and that is what Illinipony is: spring, summer, fall and winter.

Picked mine up in January and it's been my daily driver since I got it, as I wanted it to be, due to my other main vehicle being put away for the winter. It's been a good vehicle. Range certainly takes a hit, but having set departure times and instant heat in the cabin is nice. I just slapped a set of winter tires on it when I bought and I drive the crap out of it. Plus the frunk is great for keeping stuff cold during the winter months!

Yup. This is my car. Getting winter tires next year though. Lost about 40% range depending on temps and conditions.

In my neck of the woods the onset of Spring seems to have brought out a lot more BEVs than I seem to remember seeing over the Winter - can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Tesla these days, and a good number of MMEs. So it made me think lots have been hibernating.

So for those of you who live in actual winter conditions - you know who you are - did you brave the winter? And in general how was it?
My Mach E has been my main driver since I took delivery in February 2021. It's been a great car.
