Yes this is the Pedestrian alert speaker. I was asked how easy it would be to get to that speaker so I posted those photos. I am not sure if the reverse beeping is also coming out of that speaker but I am certainly going to find out.

ok but now we're back to pedestrian alert vs. backup chime. These instructions appear to be the pedestrian alert that everyone agrees is legally required?
Yep. It stands to reason that they likely both use the same speaker. Temporarily disconnecting the pedestrian alert speaker would be a good way to test that theory so we know if we should keep looking for another speaker. But we'll need somebody who's already received their car to give it a try.

??? nothing seems to be missing for me. If you ignore people, their posts and quotes will "disappear" from the thread, maybe that's what happened for some of you?
They're missing. I had quoted one as a reply. We know who you are, Sir Hawaii!!! ? ?

I am positive that they do. There's no other speaker referenced anywhere in the manuals that I can see.
Ford, please give us the option to disable the backup chime. The pedestrian alert static sound is fine, and is what it is.

You can't unplug it...well you can, but it will say "Pedestrian Alert Fault Service Now". I'm not sure if it will just say it once when you turn on the car but you will get a warning. I also don't know if it sets a light on or if it is just the warning.

The rear dinger appears to come out of the front speaker. The Mach E only has 1 speaker unlike the escape hybrid which has front and rear. The Escape does not ding in backup, it just switches the alert 'sound' to the rear speaker.

It may be possible to change the as built to remove the rear dinger at some point but it is too early to tell and I don't have time to mess with it. I need UCDS to update for the Mach E so I can see what the as built changes in that module.

So.... What we'll have to resort to is just muffling the speaker the good old fashioned way ?

I'll find out and post it here exactly what happens when I disconnect the speaker. I will have my friend's car to tinker with later this afternoon. If it does throw up a code, I can either muffle the sound or if want to disconnect completely I can put a resister inline so the system thinks the speaker is still connected. Believe me, there is more than one way to deal with this.

After further review...In the wiring diagrams Ford lists a rear speaker but then it shows no connection or pigtail for it when looking at the component location. So maybe they were going to put one in then decided not to.

It appears it is literally just a speaker connection and the speaker doesn't have any smarts in it. So you could just put in a resistor to make it think the speaker is still active.

Ah you said it right before me. I wanted to check the wiring diagrams and make sure the speaker wasn't 'smart' before I suggested the resistor. It appears it is not so a resistor should work.

Weird. Maybe he ignored us? I think two-way ignore is a thing.
It definitely seems like that. But... why?
I believe that's what happened. I can see his profile when viewing the forum when not logged in, but I cannot while logged in.
... What did we do? Now I feel bad for some reason? :(
