Forgot to say that I used my rhino ramps to raise car up about six inches. Gave plenty of room to access. Much easier than removing whole frunk and climbing into space under hood to get to speaker IMHO.

I hate going under cars, but if you put it up on ramps, you can drop the front of the cover down without taking all the rear bolts off.

I put cardboard and foam over mine but was not satisfied with how quiet it was. So I added a volume control and have it turned all the way down. I am still finishing up that mod and will post about it when done. Right now the volume control is under the front dash but I want to mount it so it is easier to control.

FYI, a 3.6 ohm 10 watt resistor does not work but a 5.1 ohm 10 watt resistor did work. And there is plenty of room to house the resistor above the speaker when all fully reassembled. The speaker is fairly small. Also, if you already have the frunk out, accessing the speaker is simple. A 12mm socket to remove 2 nuts is all it takes.

I haven't read through all 20 pages! of this user discussion to see if it was already posted, but for those wanting to know what is required, see 49 CFR 571.141, which has all the lurid details. Looks like the beeping was Ford's choice, though a warning sound of some nature conforming to the auditory requirements in the regulations is required.

Like tags on a mattress, it is required to be manufactured with a warning sound. There is no state that requires it to remain that way.

How many ohms is the speaker if you measure it with a meter?

I didn't measure it myself. Just went by what was mentioned earlier in this thread (4.8) and that a 4.7 ohm/5 watt resistor worked. My local electronics store didn't have a 4.7 ohm, so I tried 3.6 ohm 10 watt which triggered the warning on the dash and 5.1 ohm 10 watt which is working as expected.

I still have quite a few 4.7 ohm resistors left and have sent out quite a few since this thread started last year. As I said in a much earlier post, I’ll send one out to anyone that needs it free until I run out.

I’ve been doing the same. Think I have 3 left.

I used a 8 ohm potentiometer so I can control the speaker volume, and turn it all the way down. It works great. Maybe this week I will make a post about it, but here is the schematic:

Lol, I want a knob that turns it up louder too for when you get stuck behind people walking in the middle of the road or aisle. Sometimes they can't hear it until you're right on top of them. Then you can "rev" your engine too.

I saw a video where a guy added an electric bike bell to his EV. Hitting the button give a ding. He said most people respond positively to it with smiles and move over.

I have a horn technique that works well, but of course it is a horn which can be offensive. I hit the horn pad with my fist very lightly and the horn makes a muted sound instead of the loud noise like when you press the pad. I do it a couple times in quick succession, and it makes like a "wha wha" sound.
