I've had tires installed at that South Bend location and watched the cars on the testing track during installation. Pretty impressive.

Gettin' me them thar hard solid tires(made from some kind of sap from some kind of tree found in Akron methinks) like on my first bi cicle made of heavy metal. Worked great - no stopping at the service station for air, no tubes, no flats, slicks, could take chunks of rubber out of 'em and they kept on trucking ( or took a licking and kept on ticking, no that was some kind of time keeping thing a ma jig). Great exercise pedaling that thing around (weighed more than twice as much as I did).

Buy tires based on your use case.

Not surprised it’s no different for EVs.

The tires literally don’t care what type of fuel propels your car.

My next tires will be purchased with warm weather performance being the #1 criteria. Others will have different needs.
Agree 100%. I've tried/tested many different sets of tires (10, 11?) and while I wanted to like EV and all season tires, I kept coming back to my favorite that I've run for years. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's.

I thought I could give up the performance in handling and steering response but I can't. Just installed my third set and these particular ones were developed for the Mercedes AMG GT 53 with an emphasis on comfort and I'm extremely happy with them. They ride better than the generic PS4S's and are very quiet (they came with the acoustic foam inside). All of the tires I have run are a higher load rating than what is required for the Mach-E and I keep my pressure always around 40 psi so I am well above the load weight capacity for the car.

I have to agree with the Tire Rack's rep and EV specific tires are generally not performance tires. You get one or the other.

I recently put Bridgestone RFTs on my Bolt and the energy efficiency took a 10-15 hit. I am purchasing EV OE tires next time and hope I never get a flat.
10-15 WHAT? miles, percent? Where weather conditions exactly the same? soooo many variables to make such a statement..

I want A/S tires with lower rolling resistance for my road trip range and good wet traction for spring and fall wet weather roads.

Didn’t know there were different PS4S.

I’m about to order some. But are these the generic ones or the special ones you got?

Yes there are variations of many same model tires out there especially Pirelli's. As far as the PS4S, there is only one 255/45/20 and that is the one you listed above. None in that size are developed for a manufacturers specific needs. I normally run same size or taller tires than OEM but right now decided to go with a smaller than OEM tire for a shorter sidewall (better handling, sharper steering). These are what I am running right now which are for the AMG GT53:

These PS4S's I ran just before the ones above and are for the Porsche Panamera.

Some people have switched to the Hankook Evo Ion AS SUV tires and said they have better grip and same range compared to OEM Michelins.

Should have been a text article instead of a video. No reason to have to watch that. However, there were a few interesting takeaways for me:

1. Efficiency increases as tires age: they get lighter and harder. So you should expect a drop in mileage even if replacing with the same type tire, and the drop could be dramatic if you go for a less efficient tire.
2. Efficiency of after-market tires is all over the board, and having the "EV" label doesn't guarantee that it's high-efficiency.

Try the Pirelli P Zero A/S + 3’s. Top ratings by Tire Rack professional testers and the guy on Tyre Reviews. Quiet, smooth, great wet handling and braking, and exact same mi/kwh average for me as EV specific tires I replaced.

Recommend over Michelin Cross Climate 2's? The CC2'S are a strong contender for my next tire. However, you are far from the only forum member to recommend P Zero's. Range hit is not an issue for me. I would like less noise and better handling than the OEMs. Although much milder as of late, NH does still get snow during the winter. Not so much that it's worth building a whole 2nd set of snow tires though. Which is why I would like a solid wet road A/S.

When my OEM Michelins wear out, I am going to get Run Flat Tires (RFT) ASAP.

Can't stand having to use a mobility kit.

Would rather drive up to 50 miles to get to a tire store.
My BMW X3 had run flats - I ditched them as soon as they wore out. They can't be repaired if you pick up a nail, they were stiffer and noisier than other options, and they're really pricey. Had a much better ride switching to standard all-seasons
