Does 1430 KWh in one month seem right?

Did some math and that's what my first month of home charging consumed. That's like charging from 20% to 85% 25 times over. I have made a few longer trips (1-200 miles), but I've also used charging stations for those. I have about 2600 miles on the odo, and I'm usually hovering around 3 mi/kwh.

Just looked at my ChargePoint history. Keep in mind I haven't been driving a whole lot since i'm working from home:

October:
424 kWh
1283 estimated miles driven

November:
606 kWh
1723 Estimated miles driven

That comes out to less than 2 miles/kwhr. Does not seem right.
Where are you getting your 1430 number?

No, sounds a bit high on kwh's. How are you getting your kwh numbers….charger app, estimate from home energy bill?

And that does not take into account the road trip charging stations.

I think someone may be siphoning kilowatts from your MME. :D

20 to 85% 25 times is about 1500kWhr

I compared the bill to november of last year and that's the difference.. Other than the EV, there's nothing else that would contribute to this much of a variance.

Yeah I also work from home, so that electricity bill definitely shocked me.

Just looked at my charge point.

November 461 kWh $55.00
October 564 kWh $71.00

Car has 2331 miles and we got it in early October and have only charged at home. Average 2.27 miles per kWh.

$116.00 in electricity

Technically, one would siphon “kilowatt-hours”, not “kilowatts.”

There is some overhead to charging. not sure what it is, but only for math, let's call it 1/2 KW Per hour. If you are using 120 Volt for home charging then it draws approximately 1.2 KW per hour, minus the .5KW Per hour, you are only delivering .75KW to the car. If you are charging using the supplied
charger at 240 Volts, assume 7KW delivered minus the .5KW so getting 6.5 KW. Using 120 Volts would probably account for the difference. If using 240 volt, then, probably not. Also, if you are
Pre Conditioning ( you should be ), then this will also add to energy used that may not be appropriately accounted for.

Tip - if 120v charging, buy a Killowatt and measure it.

Tip - Read meter. Plug in and charge. When done, read meter.

That's true, but still doesn't explain how my consumption in one month is equal to more than twice of others'.
It’s really simple, take you average monthly miles (minus when you charged away from home) and divide it by your m/kWh average. That gives you the best estimate, you can’t compare to other people since driving habits make a huge impact. If my average is 4m/kWh and yours is 3m/KWh - you are going to use 25% more energy charging.
Doesn’t your utilities give you consumption down to each hour? Should be easy to calculate based on when you charge the car.

also, don’t waste time calling the “charger” manufacturer. It’s just a fancy switch it won’t be using a bunch of energy unless you’ve got a leak to ground-you would know.
