Door Code Factory Code?

Just wondering if anyone's had this happen to them...

I have been using my door code for months now with no issue, and then all the sudden it stops working. I tried to go into the settings and reset it (or at least see what's wrong) and it's telling me in order to set my door code I need the factory code?? I bought this car used, so of course the dealership didn't give me one of those in my packet... Did some update break this for me? Am I going to need to bring this to the dealership and have them find my code?

If you have 2 key fobs, you can use them to display the factory code on the IPC. If not, the code is printed on the BCM in the passenger foot well.

To retrieve the keyless entry code from the body control module (BCM), connect the Ford Diagnostic and repair tool > confirm the VIN > go to toolbox > select BCM – Factory Keyless Entry Code > press Download to retrieve and display the factory keyless entry code > then press Run to get the code.

I would definitely check with the dealer, it is my understanding that you can get a second key fob from Ford at no charge. I could be wrong because you are second owner but you need to check with dealer anyway.

You can't set your own code, without having the original code. Not possible. And, since you only have one key, go find the code in the box on the right side of the passenger footwell. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/other-factory-door-code-locations.32445/

I spent my entire life on computers. I was advised that I spoke in code.
It would be helpful to know how you could display on X. and what is the BCM.
I did understand passenger foot well.

BCM is the Body Control Module.

IPC is the Instrument Panel Cluster

THIS was what saved me. It's insane that dealers want to charge you to give it to you when it's literally printed on a part in the car! Thank you! Though I can imagine I had it a lot easier fitting myself in there to read that as someone who is pretty small than your average mechanic would, lol. I'd assume that's why they just use a tool or something.

Note that the code on the Body Control Module is longer than necessary for a US-spec car. You only need the first 5 digits. ??
