I haven't even read the article (not turning off my ad blocker). But, I am so confused now, too...!
So, what car do I actually own?

We finally have the answer to the age old question of "Is the Mach-E a Mustang?" In the linked article below, CEO Jim Farley says they will never build an Electric Mustang or one for off-roading (sorry Mach-E Rally). Interesting little article.

Let’s face it, the only reason Ford even hung the Mustang name on the Mach E was for marketing. Even Ford doesn’t classify the Mach E in any generation of the Mustang family!

@Ford Motor Company I'm so confused. Is this interview legit? Did CEO Jim Farley seriously say this?

I bought the car because I've wanted a Mustang GT since before I could drive. If Jim is saying the Mustang Mach-E isn't a Mustang, then what did you guys sell me?

While names might not/should not matter much, I've been around the block enough to know when companies are not serious about certain products. I fear the MME is one of them. Farley mentioned the Transit - a short-ranged EV with a relatively niche audience. Sigh.
I agree, that’s the most revealing thing about this interview. Vehicles get planned years out, might they be thinking a second generation of the Mach-E may not be worth it? I hope not, but I could see them thinking that an electrified version of the Escape or Explorer may be cheaper to develop and more likely to be profitable.

I am inclined to agree. However, the Mach-e is a fine name. They could pull one of those moves where they slowly drop the horse and give the car its own Mach-e identity. Similar to what happened to the Celica Supra…now commonly known as the Supra.
I really think they should do this. MME or Mach-E is far less of a mouthful. Just put an illuminated "Ford" on the front of the GT (ahem, I mean all models ?).

And remember, water isn't wet and Peter Parker is Spider-man and Miles Morales is Miles Morales. Hmm, what else can I post here to make it so.

Lesson: don't let others make up your mind for you ?

Let's face it. The only reason the original Mustang was called a Mustang instead of being an updated Falcon was marketing.

It's an auto BUSINESS folks. Their job is to make money off us.

I’ve owned 2 ICE Mustang GTs. To me Farley is saying what I have thought all along. The Mach-e is a great car… But it’s not a Mustang.

Who cares. I bought my Mach e despite the mustang name. When asked what I drive I say Mach e. I have never considered owning an ICE Mustang.
