My Mach E has been in the shop for 3 weeks for the recall along with the front camera fault. The module was replaced and it still giving alerts that’s pre collision is unavailable and that the camera is out. Dealership has no idea what to do and this is my second time bringing it in for the same issue. I’m seriously close to trading it in. The recalls aren’t a problem for me it’s just that’s no one can figure out how to fix the problem so it’s just sitting at the dealership. Anyone have success with fixing the problem?

Not yet. There are several of us with this issue. Enough to point to software vs hardware as the issue. (Not likely that we all have bad cameras all of a sudden.....)

Were you getting both error messages or just the one?

Those errors have simply become part of my every day driving experience. So much so that I doubt I'd notice if a different one appeared on the screen.

Both. Camera completely went out. Can’t use bluecruise. The first time they said there was an update fix for it but then it started again a few days later. This time they replaced the module and it’s still not working. Same message came up right after replacing it. I never even picked it up.

Ford customer service will reimburse for a rental but you have to pay upfront which sucks. There was supposed to be an update to fix it but I already tried that and it didn’t work. I’m not sure what else they’re doing to solve the issue.

Mine has been fixed now for about a week and no repeat errors. I've driven it about 200 miles. It took two dealer visits with the same problem -- failed update, error appeared, then dealer replaced IPMA & did reset with no luck--within 24 hours of getting my car again it came back.

On the second visit, my service manager hustled and got Ford Engineering involved. He also, for the heck of it, also replaced the just-installed IPMA. He wanted to rule out that he got a defective module. There is a very large DO NOT DROP sticker on it and given the state of deliveries these days, he felt a lack of confidence. He also pored through the codes to make sure nothing else could be causing it, and noticed that there were different codes being thrown with the new module (although it still resulted in the driver seeing the same camera fault message). What's more, after talking to engineering, he discovered that APPARENTLY, the shops had outdated/incorrect instructions on how to do the reset procedure. They then followed the (new) procedures as given to him by Ford Engineering.

Given how many people have this issue, it seems to me likely that the cause of these failed fixes could be bad/outdated reset instructions or, worse, a heck of a lot of defective/dropped IPMAs.

This is the thread where I posted a copy of the service record and what they did if that helps it (you'll have to go back a page or two to find it). It can't hurt to relay my experience to your service manager to make sure they've covered all the bases. With the state of the depleted car market, you're best off fixing the car you have now and waiting for better supply unless you want to face ADM & headaches.

Yep. Same here.
Mine makes me hit the OK button though. If I don't, then it keeps sounding that gong tone. Kinda annoying.

In my case......not only will Ford NOT reimburse for a rental, they won't even cover the repair (whatever that ends up being...). I have 49k miles. Way past warranty, unfortunately.

I am running an experiment . If you touch the housing around the camera module (the plastic cover behind the rear view mirror) it is almost too hot to touch when the system fails (at least it is here in Phoenix.) On the theory that the failure is temperature-related I am devising a temporary diverter to direct cooled air from the passenger side duct nearest the center screen up to the module to see if this might help keep the error at bay. I will report back if this has any effect.

No joy today, still got the error as soon as the screen indicated temp hit 108. So either this has nothing to do with it or I am not directing sufficient air to cool the system. I intend to improve my diverter and keep trying. Nothing to lose, eh?

@fordmotorcompany This is also happening to me. I’ve had the windshield recall done and replaced. The IPMA has also been replaced. This Thursday will be the third time for these same issues that all other are dealing with. Kirkland Ford just happens to be pretty knowledgeable as compared to others that I have read about on this forum. Maybe you can call them on Thursday and help them out. If there is something to be learned, then help out all of the others out there.

Has ford public ally acknowledged this issue? It seems to be a lot of people having the problem and my dealership can’t figure out how to fix it. The car has been in the shop going on 5 weeks now with no progress and I’m not getting anywhere with Ford customer service.

One of the other threads suggested it could be related to bumps and such... i did reproduce this yesterday - went down a crazy bumpy road (Thanks NY roads...) and I generated the error (BC was not active at the time)

In the other (main) thread about this Front Camera Fault issue (https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...e-collision-assist-not-available-errors.18710), there are lots of discussions about temperature and/or bumps, but several folks get it outside those conditions. For example, ours popped up sitting in the driveway on a 70 degree (F) morning.

What is interesting is that, in my case, the IPMA (actual camera) was not replaced or touched when I brought it in the first time. It was the IPMB (the module in the trunk) that was replaced that eradicated the message for a small time. It's a very strange issue indeed.
