Screws or rivets, and how many?
Looks like 3 screws...

Ford Mustang Mach-E Front license plate IMG_0476

I had already planned to use the factory front bracket, so I'm not upset personally. I do feel for those that wanted to use their own custom bracket though.

After reading this thread I asked my dealer. They said that since front plates aren’t required (PA) they routinely delete them.

Thanks for the info. If it were two screws on the flat part, I could pull off the bumper plugs, but two on that curvature and one in the middle would look downright ridiculous. Looks like I have to resign myself to that front bracket or find a body shop that will fill the holes and repaint the cover.

Same. Sigh.

Well, I'm glad I found one in Michigan I could buy without the front plate bracket installed. There are definitely two drill pilot dimples in the curvature of the bumper cover and I can confirm bumper plugs will not work. I ordered an OEM front plate bracket and am going to find an alternate way to mount it, likely 3M automotive double stick tape.

Happy to sell you my Craigs custom bracket as I have a feeling my car will have the front bracket (am in CA).

I think there will be a few for sale from some early adopters on this forum. It's a total drag. Since the damage is done I may get those 60's black plates ($50) on registration since it may look better for the front on red or other darker colors.

I was going to go without plate at all, never been a problem for 15+ years (knock on plastic.)

The Mach E we drove yesterday had the license plate bracket installed at the factory. My dealer deleted the bracket on my order so I can use the Craig's license plate assembly to mount the front license plate. I saw the little shelf on the bumper where the plate will be adhered with the 3M adhesive; It looks easy to do.

EDIT 3/14/21: Dealer texted me saying that now he's not so sure that deleting the brackets on the order will result in them not installing the bracket anyway. Illinois requires a front plate and he said he thinks Ford now puts them on if state requires it. Maybe they were forced to for legal reasons. I'm not holding my breath that I won't have OEM brackets on my car when delivered. Craig's license plate holder on sale in the near future.

Yup. Was planning to go black plates as well. should complement the carbonized gray and the "handlebar mustache"

The Craig's bracket doesn't have a good place to go on center with the active shutters and the front radar for ACC that I can see. I'll probably play with it a little once I get my plates.

It does and won't interfere with the radar sensor. The baseplate adheres to the shelf/lip of the bumper and the plate assembly is screwed on the baseplate and goes up away from radar not down blocking it. Do you have your car yet? If you do you can see where the baseplate goes and how the license plate holding assembly will screw on to it. If not, look at a demo if available.

I have my car. I just need to take a closer look to see how your suggestion would work. Thanks!

Spoke to my dealer and apparently Ford has been soliciting early feedback from dealers. He stated that try and a few other local dealers have told Ford to stop installing the front plates. Apparently Ford is stating that it’s standard practice, but the dealer said that they don’t have this issue on any other mustang models…. So we will see how cars produced later date on this one…

My dealer did state that it should be easy to take the bolts out and use a plug, but it sounds like this isn’t likely…
