I tried it shortly after @ChasingCoral created the thread. We were both on the same update at the time. I tried it again after 4.2.4 installed 10 days ago or so. No luck either time.
If you don't have the BCM module update - which is NOT part of an OTA - then you won't get it to work. I didn't specifically ask for it, the dealer just happened to do this last fall when I brought it in for other things.

I'm bummed that despite having the electronic opener activated all this time, it still doesn't show up in the Ford Pass app.

I'm not sure I follow that logic on it being a "half-baked" hack if all the elements of the equation are functions of Ford's FDRS system. The BCM and GFM update, followed by running the FDRS tool routine that enables the Frunk softbutton on the Sync drive mode screen. It's all Ford tools and software. Completely authorized.

Was there a method proposed at one time to add the Frunk softbutton with FORSCAN? Yes. That became OBE following Ford's decision to add that routine to FDRS. All completely above board now.
Please point to the SSM, TSB, or ANY other official communication that I can take to my service department when I go in for service to have them perform the required updates (and remember, it’s not just FDRS, there’s a second, unnamed tool that has to be run to put the button on the Sync Screen)?

I'll bet anyone who calls their Customer Experience team about it can get it worked out with the dealer, especially if there's another CSP that needs to get taken care of.

I totally get the "principle of the thing" perspective, but it's not a hill I'm interested in dying on if I could be a micro-Karen and have an operable remote frunk.
You might want to look at the other post where someone called the CSP and was told “no soup for you”.

It does have a name and it is in FDRS. As you know, there is no official bulletin from Ford. The best documentation you can bring is the tweet from Jim Farley saying that it can be enabled at the dealer.

Which one? The one he deleted afterwards?

It’s all but certain that this feature isn’t happening at this point. We’re approaching the 30 month mark for the earliest builds and still nothing. No TSB, no CSP, no SSM, and no sustainable hints it’s happening either.

Yup, that's the one. I didn't say it was a good option. Just that it's the best documentation available.
I forgot the sarcasm emoji on that, my apologies. It’s early enough here plus I’m still on Hawaiian time even though I’m in the mostly frozen wastelands of northern Idaho. There is good though — a long trek home tomorrow where I’ll surely be on Pacific daylight saving time. :p

If people from Hawaii are starting to vacation in Idaho, the world has officially gone crazy. ?

I'm bummed I have to use PaaK to use FP to control the windows.
You can still just carry your fob. Not sure why enabling PAAK is a big deal?

Interment ceremony at the Spokane Veterans Cemetery. I’m giving the eulogies. A decorated Korean War veteran and his wife. I do have family here and how they ended up here qualifies as crazy imo though.

my wife and I vacation in

….

Wait for it

….

Hawaii!

Because to roll the windows down from say, 300ft away (at work) I’d have to use PAAK to get FP to show me the windows buttons in my FP app. Or in 115 degrees I can walk almost to the car to do so.

my wife and I vacation in Hawaii!
Years ago I was in Maui and there is our vacation giveaway that the local radio station was doing.
“ are you tired of living in Paradise where every day is wonderful and the sun and the weather is amazing. Win a trip to fo Scottsdale and escape to the air conditioned resort of (something, I think it was the Princess or something)’
I laughed and laughed, even getting on the plane to return to said 115 degree dust storms. ?

The second tool used to be FORScan (which can still be used to put the button on the screen). They developed a FDRS tool to make it easier (which was what was pictured in the screenshot). ??
