Actually, as I said previously, I have state inspection coming up (this month, in fact), and I plan to ask my dealer to update modules. The issue still remains, it would be a half-baked hack, not a proper implementation.

Yes, you'll lose a little bit of your identity as a result, but I'm sure something else can come along... :)
I heard a rumor that his real name is "James" but on the webs he stays under wraps with the pseudonym @Jimrpa.

Any bets on the "something else" that will come next? I'm rooting for @Jimspa.

I'm not sure I follow that logic on it being a "half-baked" hack if all the elements of the equation are functions of Ford's FDRS system. The BCM and GFM update, followed by running the FDRS tool routine that enables the Frunk softbutton on the Sync drive mode screen. It's all Ford tools and software. Completely authorized.

Was there a method proposed at one time to add the Frunk softbutton with FORSCAN? Yes. That became OBE following Ford's decision to add that routine to FDRS. All completely above board now.

Yep, I used FDRS, not FORSCAN, to perform the frunk update. And now that I have the fob with the frunk button, it's an awesome option to have for stuff I don't want inside the cabin.

? Actually, good point. I’ve had my car for 2 years and love it. Would I buy it again? Without hesitation. In terms of features Ford “promised” on the vehicle, the remote frunk release is the only one I can think of that they haven’t delivered on yet. Other people are disappointed in things like lack of a towing eye, lack of an interior sunscreen for the glass roof, towing not authorized on US cars, etc. even if I cared about those things, the lack wouldn’t bother me because I bought the car knowing those features weren’t available.

It’s half baked because there’s no CSP or other bulletin authorizing and outlining the proc to update to the modules necessary to enable the remote frunk release on job 1 cars. That means your dealer can and will charge you for something that Ford should be paying for. And just why should any customer have to lie to the dealer to get them to run a set of module updates under warranty? If you do that, you’re still without the sync screen button as the lies you need to tell to get the BCM update won’t cover that. What’s wrong with this picture?

At this point it’s painfully obvious that Ford doesn’t have one iota of concern for its earliest Mach-e customers.

I'll bet anyone who calls their Customer Experience team about it can get it worked out with the dealer, especially if there's another CSP that needs to get taken care of.

I totally get the "principle of the thing" perspective, but it's not a hill I'm interested in dying on if I could be a micro-Karen and have an operable remote frunk.

Hi there! If you are able to send over a private message with your VIN and dealership information, I can look into things for you.
Ahhh Ford all of us Job 1 cars don't have a working frunk button. The button in the Frunk does nothing how about helping us all?

I would add that another reason that it’s half-baked (I don’t think it’s a hack) is that there is still no button in the FordPass app for a 2021 Job 1 car with the software loaded through FDRS. The specific VIN’s profile needs to be altered on the server side in order for that to happen. ??

Thank you @Kamuelaflyer ! I’ve gotten a bit tired of repeating myself ? (I know - hard to believe ?)

And when you do get it I hope you open and close it 10 times a day to make up for lost time. ;)

I tried it shortly after @ChasingCoral created the thread. We were both on the same update at the time. I tried it again after 4.2.4 installed 10 days ago or so. No luck either time.

I can say I haven't been to the dealer since last summer at the earliest. No idea why it worked on mine as others stated they went to the dealer much more recent. I believe my most recent update was 4.2.4.
