Does this mean I could get a Lightning fob and use that to open the frunk?

Of course I just had to go check Mr. Ed, which was last serviced September 28, 2022 (10,000 mile service).
It worked! Although it sounded like the car was taking its last, labored breath as the frunk was opening.
(Job 1, delivered 2/12/21...almost my second anniversary!)

Yes. A lot of us have.
Hmm. I already bought a 2nd fob of my own early last year, long before the free one was being given. I was just gonna try to get the refund. But if they'll give me a Lightning fob for free instead, maybe I'll just take the fob if the frunk button works.

Not sure if they'd be OK with that, but worth a try.

Just for completeness, I did just try the 7/8 pillar code and of course, nothing happened. Oddly though, when I walked away from the car, it made a series of clicking noises, like the doors were locking and unlocking. Note that I did NOT have either a fob or my phone with me.
Just to be clear, 7/8 isn't going to work unless the car is unlocked. Or, you hit the code to unlock it, then 7/8.

But keep in mind, that when you took it in for service, the code was still in FDRS that was discussed the other day:

If - Update adds capability,
And - Car belongs to Jimrpa,
Then - Do Not Load Update.
Else -
Load Update.

It's not a crazy ask. If they have a good relationship with their dealer I bet they can make it happen.
Sure, you can ask. But the CSP specifies a part number. Dealers aren’t at liberty to just swap in a different part number from a different vehicle and still get paid by Ford. I bet most dealers wouldn’t even know that a Lightning fob would work with an MME.

My plan is to get a refund on the fob I bought and then see if they can order a Lightning fob separately with the credit money... not tie it in to the CSP so far as their paperwork is concerned.

I know that doesn't work for those who never purchased the additional fob, though.

It doesn't take much imagination. Charge out the MME fob on the warranty RO. Return the MME fob to the parts department and charge out the Lightning fob on a separate RO/counter ticket.

Give it a shot. A dealer willing to do more than what’s required of them is a rare find.

You can add the frunk release to the Control / Access screen using FORscan. Then all that would be left would be a FordPass update.

Lol. Mine works, too. This is actually pretty handy. Even if FordPass and infotainment access are eventually enabled, the keypad will probably be the faster/handier method. Thanks for the tip.
Or just push the round door-open button, reach down in the door well and pull the frunk lever since you're already there. That's fewer steps, perhaps.?
