Does this mean I could get a Lightning fob and use that to open the frunk?

Yes. A lot of us have.Does this mean I could get a Lightning fob and use that to open the frunk?
Hmm. I already bought a 2nd fob of my own early last year, long before the free one was being given. I was just gonna try to get the refund. But if they'll give me a Lightning fob for free instead, maybe I'll just take the fob if the frunk button works.Yes. A lot of us have.
Just to be clear, 7/8 isn't going to work unless the car is unlocked. Or, you hit the code to unlock it, then 7/8.Just for completeness, I did just try the 7/8 pillar code and of course, nothing happened. Oddly though, when I walked away from the car, it made a series of clicking noises, like the doors were locking and unlocking. Note that I did NOT have either a fob or my phone with me.
They won’t.if they'll give me a Lightning fob for free instead
You have to enter your code first regardless of whether the car is unlocked or not.Just to be clear, 7/8 isn't going to work unless the car is unlocked. Or, you hit the code to unlock it, then 7/8.
It's not a crazy ask. If they have a good relationship with their dealer I bet they can make it happen. They won’t.
Sure, you can ask. But the CSP specifies a part number. Dealers aren’t at liberty to just swap in a different part number from a different vehicle and still get paid by Ford. I bet most dealers wouldn’t even know that a Lightning fob would work with an MME.It's not a crazy ask. If they have a good relationship with their dealer I bet they can make it happen.
It doesn't take much imagination. Charge out the MME fob on the warranty RO. Return the MME fob to the parts department and charge out the Lightning fob on a separate RO/counter ticket.Sure, you can ask. But the CSP specifies a part number. Give it a shot. A dealer willing to do more than what’s required of them is a rare find.It doesn't take much imagination. Charge out the MME fob on the warranty RO. Return the MME fob to the parts department and charge out the Lightning fob on a separate RO/counter ticket.
Or just push the round door-open button, reach down in the door well and pull the frunk lever since you're already there. That's fewer steps, perhaps.Lol. Mine works, too. This is actually pretty handy. Even if FordPass and infotainment access are eventually enabled, the keypad will probably be the faster/handier method. Thanks for the tip.
