Has anyone had this issue? I tried to open the frunk from PAAK and it only opened a couple of inches. Both my husband and I can't get it closed. I can't get it fully open either. Tried the icon in the car which won't open it all the way either - it's blue which means it thinks it's open. Tried the pull twice on the driver side and that won't open it either. Until I can get it open all the way, I can't close it. Now when I drive it, I get the notice that it's open and the constant alarm. It's out of warranty, of course. 21 MME Premium. Looks like I have to take it to the dealer today. Hoping it won't be a fortune to fix.

While you do the double pull on the inside, hold it on the 2nd pull, and have your spouse try to lift it.

Unfortunately, a number of people have had this issue, and the solution was the dealership cut the latch, then put in a new one.

Didn't work. Off to the dealership this afternoon. Hope it doesn't cost too much.

Didn't know this was a "chronic" issue.

Is the best preventative option just to always use manual release for the frunk to avoid wear on the motorized release?

I’ve only used the double pull since these issues started creeping up. Then again, I had lots of practice with that since it’s a job 1 2021.

Has anyone had this issue?
It did happen to mine. The frunk wouldn't open via the app (phone and in-car UI), and only the first latch would release after the double pull. I had to take it to the dealership, and they replaced the faulty part. It wasn't cheap (sorry, I don't remember how much it was in the end because I had other things done at the same time).

It's not chronic, but it's happened to enough people that we know about it. I use the button in the app when I'm outside of the car. I use the mechanical release from inside the car simply because it's more convenient than diving into the menu to get the button on the screen, as the door is already open so that I can go to the frunk. ?‍♂?

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

They're not out to get you because you're paranoid. It's because you use a litter box. ??

So sad! After all the clamoring for an electronic frunk release, now we shouldn't use it!

(To be fair, I don't think I've opened my frunk for more than a year, other than when I installed a power port into my 12v system for a V2L inverter... It just seems much less useful than the trunk to me... But that issue certainly sucks for people that use it regularly!)

Yeah Mach-Lee is great. I spent the last 2 hours at the dealer while they did nothing. I finally got a loaner (Escape) which is weird to drive since I'm used to 1-pedal driving. They should be able to get back to me tomorrow. Unfortunately, the service manager is on vacation. He knows me well with all the problems I've had the past 3.5 years. I do not intend to pay for this repair since it is a known issue and has happened to enough people. I'll let you all know how it works out.

I, like @Kamuelaflyer , have exclusively used the manual / mechanical frunk release. I think I tried the motorised release once, then saw the stories of it failing in rare circumstances. Never really needed to open it from outside the car anyway.

Hope it gets fixed "quickly", but I'd be surprised if they cover it if the car is out of warranty.

Fun fact - I had an issue with the release on my Lightning. They checked it, and ended up having to replace it.
