You can program your own fob on the MME. If you already have 2 programmed fobs. At least according to some posts on here. I haven't tried it.
1) Where did the second fob come from?

2) Where are the programming instructions in the MME Owners Manual?

Here are the rest of the instructions for an Edge. I don't see that in the MME manual.

Yeah from what I have read it’s painless if you have 2. I’m going to purchase a 3rd to do exactly that.

This may be the first Ford that doesn't use the blade key for anything. Can anyone confirm? It is the first car I've owned that has 0 lock cylinders.
Second vehicle for me, my Bolt does not have any lock cylinders either.

The instructions are the same for the MME. They are likely not in the manual because the car only comes with one fob. ;)

I bit the bullet and spent $30 on a third fob (and programmed it myself successfully), just in case something happened to one of the other two fobs. $30 was a cheap investment to make sure I didn't have to deal with getting one programmed at the stealership again.

We just went to our local dealership in Michigan and bought a key fob from the dealership for $190 and blank key for $60 and then programming was $60. We were able to use my rewards points for $110 for 22,000 points. So now we have 2 key fobs and piece of mind.

Just curious, how much did the second fob and programming cost, in total?

I'm assuming a lost or damaged first fob would cost the same, or more?

But I am happy that you were able to find the 3rd fob programming instructions on line, since they are certainly not in the MME manual.

I wonder what MME owners that are not on this forum do? If Ford does not see this as a poor customer service issue, I'm pretty sure their customers will. I do.

After all, if the poster above bought a fob for $30, how much is Ford paying for them?

$30 for a used fob. Typical parts department mark up is 100%. Manufacturers cost is typically half of dealer cost. So $190 OTC, ~$95 dealer cost, ~$47.50 Ford's cost.

Yikes, this posted while I was typing.

So $190 + $60 + $60 = $310. For a spare key fob.

Ford, I have no further comment. o_O

So 22000 points is only worth $110. I thought it would be more than that!

The $60 for the blade key is the part I find most egregious.
FWIW some other manufacturers fobs are double the cost of Ford's.

What are you planning to do with the $60 blank key?

Second fob was $85 online + $120 programming at dealer + a couple hours of my time.
Third fob I found for $30 online and programmed myself, as I posted above.

Yes, you can do it with 2 fobs, which I have done as well as others. Funny how a Ford fanboy wouldn't even have anything ford in their profile picture... There's been way too many complaints about this. I don't understand why people just can't deal with it or pay a little extra for a second fob. Ford can add the fob and increase the MSRP $1000 but then people would company about rising prices. There's literally no winning with people these days...
