Grizzl-e Smart Charger

Can anyone tell me about their experience with a “Smart” Grizzl-e EVSE .
Thinking of purchasing, but hearing of problems setting up the smart features…

My charger works just fine..........except that I can't set up the smart portion. It just will not work for me. Tried for several days while talking with their tech and zero luck.

Maybe you'll have better luck. The price was right ?‍

Hmm. Well I'm going to follow this thread since mine should be arriving next week and I *thought* I'd get to use it to track charging usage at home over time.

You can track your charge usage via charge logs in the FP app. Smart chargers are a bit of a gimmick imo. Good for those who like to get out in the weeds on things..

I looked into the Grizzl-E Smart charger last year. It seemed that they were farming the “smart” part out to 3rd party apps and the only smart thing it even attempted to was be wifi ready. It seemed up to the third party to access the data. That’s how I took it, so I didn’t buy one. 2 dumb chargers working beautifully though.

Have one and it works great. The "Smart Features" are minimal. However, I didn't have any issues adding it to the Chargepoint App and can view my unit fine.

I’ve had the dumb one for about 8 months now, installed on the exterior of my garage. Have not had a single problem with it, and the cable is stupid thick and durable.

I would avoid it like the plague. Maybe things have changed since earlier this year but the one that my family had was always failing and never worked reliably. It used to require an internet connection to work and that always failed despite being next to the wifi router. They then released a firmware update that would supposedly turn off the requirement for wifi to charge the vehicle but that didn't appear to fix any of the issues we had.

Grizzl-E support was very helpful and let us return our smart charger and exchange for the regular "dumb" version.

We have two of the regular 40A "dumb" chargers now and they work perfectly and we couldn't be happier. I would go for one of those or if you really want the smart functionality and power tracking get the chargepoint home flex.

Yea, I saw they have it now, it looks great! I wish it was available last year when we bought ours as I would have gotten this instead.

They have this but it costs more than two individual units and forces both cars to share one 50A circuit.
Two individual chargers is more cost effective (not including have two circuits installed) and can charge each car at the full 40A.
