It's a beautiful day here in Southern Oregon. My wife and I were returning home from grocery shopping, driving in a School Zone packed with elementary school kids......
Flying the bird in front of young kids is just rude and crude.

Hope no one mistakes my Rally for a for a Tesla and tries to blow it up.

Just was told last Saturday that my tesla was a piece of shit.
I thanked him while hethen said Elon Musk sucks. I thanked him again and reminded him that this was a ford. Not a tesla. He drove away. No response at all ! Lol
To be fair, our Ford crossover utility vehicles cosplaying as Mustangs could reasonably be confused with this crowd by an uninformed observer...

It's a beautiful day here in Southern Oregon. My wife and I were returning home from grocery shopping, driving in a School Zone packed with elementary school kids. We were driving under 20mph in our '24 MME GTPE (hard to do) when a 30ish male on a bike, riding in a bike lane on our passenger side, started flipping us off. His angry, vigorous gesturing started more than a block away, and the closer he got to us, the angrier he seemed, and the more pronounced was his arm and middle finger.

Our Star White MME GT, has no Ford badging, just the Pony on the front and GT on the back.

We are sure that he mistook us for a Tesla. Just to be clear, we don't own a Tesla and never would!

We now more fully understand how nervous Tesla owners must feel driving their cars, as this episode made us feel nervous driving our EV. We now wish we had a large Ford badge on the front or our wonderful car! We even talked about flying a large Ford Flag out of the window. HaHa!
It's far more likely that you passed him on the road a little too close for his comfort, than him thinking you were driving a Tesla. It's possible that he mistook the Mach e for a Tesla. But it's also possible that you passed him while in the right lane, too close for him, without getting over into the next lane.

As a cyclist myself, this has happened far too often. Proper etiquette is to get into the next lane to your left and give the cyclist a wider path, then switch back into the right lane after you have cleared the cyclist comfortably. Before I got into cycling I had no idea what the proper etiquette was, and I'm sure I was guilty of the same mistake.

I have never flipped anyone off or chased after them angrily, but I can understand where they are coming from when they think their safety is being challenged.

I assume they were not OEM replacements? I had my windshield replaced twice on my '21 during the 3 years I had it and both had the Ford oval. I always request OEM windshields for all my vehicles when they need replacing.
Correct - didn't see any value in paying oem prices for the windshield - particularly given the ridiculous frequency I find rocks floating mid-air over I-35.

Actually, I feel like I've had less pitting in the non-OEM glass (and still get acoustic, IR glass)

I had an exact opposite thing happen the other day. I pulled into a parking lot, and another car pulls in right next to me, rolls down his window and motions to me as I'm getting out of the car. "Uh oh" I thought.

It was a guy probably in his 70s - he said "is that an electric Mustang? I've never seen one of those before!" (Really?)

I told him a little about it, and he said "wow, that is incredible. I used to own a few Mustangs years ago but they were nothing like this one! It looks great, I'm sure it's fast, that's it - this is going to be the Elon-buster car! I love it!"

We talked a little more, and he kept raving and raving about it and kept referring it as an "Elon-Buster car" and saying "Use it in good health!" Hilarious.

I can see that. Both of mine were taken care of by insurance.

I was meeting someone for coffee yesterday and told her I was going to park on a Supercharger and walk over to the shop, but she wanted to pick me up at the charger. I get in her car and she says, "That's a cute Tesla!"
Maybe to some people, all EV's are considered Tesla's in the same way all adjustable pliers are referred to as Vice Grips?

Not sure on that one though?

In another thread it came up about people's brains being wired to conflate Tesla with electric car. Kleenex, Xerox, Tesla and Vice Grips, I suppose. They had an early advantage. She did genuinely think it was a Tesla model she hadn't seen, and mentioned she doesn't like the look of Tesla's and was surprised to see one that she liked.

Back in '21, I wasn't a huge fan of the Mustang emblem (nor the GT emblem) on the liftgate and replaced it with a custom painted Iconic Silver/black Ford Oval because I like the emblems to blend in a bit with the surrounding. Several other members did the same with their cars and that was several years before all this Tesla nonsense. On my '24, did the same except had the oval painted Glacier Gray/Black for the liftgate. I just had another custom emblem painted but had the colors reversed to put on the grill. Wasn't sure I was going to use it but now with everything that's going on, I might work on this....

Our encounter with this jerk had nothing to do with us taking up too much of his bike lane or coming to close to him. The area in which this happened was across the street from a grade school and the bike lane actually had barriers that separated autos from bikes. In addition, his antics began a full block ahead of us, as he came toward us. I too am a bike rider and always give riders their due in our autos/trucks and RVs. He appeared well dressed and had a great bike. No, in our opinion, this was truly a protest against Teslas!

Could be. On the other hand, not everyone is rational and stable. They could just as easily been unhinged lunatics or have been having a really bad day. Or not. :)

That looks pretty sweet. I was never a fan of the "GT" emblem but the subtle Ford emblem looks much, much better IMHO.

Nice looking ride. ?

While @markboris "gray oval logo" is definitely classier, I'm planning on going a slightly different direction: I got a 2024 GT Rally and it came with a rear deck emblem that is indicative of none of that... Since it is a GT that was made 60yrs after the debut of the original, I ordered this 60th Anniversary GT badge off EBay - that oughta really send the #NotAMustang crowd into a tizzy!

I confess I did consider the matching 5.0 side emblems, but I didn't want them to have an embolism!

I'm sorry that you had to bear the wrath of someone else's irrational behavior.

I've only ever come across positive reactions to my Mach-E from others (knock on wood).

That said, I'm always wary of the "EV haters", especially since all this Tesla and Elon stuff popped off. There are some truly unhinged people out there.

Even someone just targeting Elon's brand could easily mistake a Mach-E for a Tesla if their knowledge of EVs, or car makes in general, is limited.
