The tapping gesture is already part of the UX design language, implemented in the Climate control "Auto" button to set the aggressiveness of the fans or turn off. Tap once, low fan Auto, again med, again high, again off. I think that button is right next to the drivers side heated seat. Seems silly that they wasted all that time and effort to make the slider. It's distracting while driving. The Auto mode on the seat heater is contrary to my use case because I like to leave the climate at low heat and the seat heater and steering heater on to maximize range in the colder climate. Perhaps Auto seat heat mode should follow the ambient temperature (warm when it's cold out, off when it's hot) rather than follow the climate setting?
I've seen it work for the fan, but the seats seem to be just slider or A, and I don't like the A setting.

Meanwhile, more often than not the time I want to adjust up the seat temperature is right after I get in the car... and when the backup camera is on the screen, the sliders don't work.

Yea, that's what my long-winded comment meant to say. Why didn't they just make them both work the way the fan does? Be careful, or they'll fix it so the slider covers the backup camera.

Dear Ford if you are listening, I implore you, don't add "climate off" to the Auto button. This would make no sense at all.
Okay, then how about a "climate off" button right next to the Auto button? They're already adding an A/C button below it. Why not one more?

I think this would be VERY confusing. I can't think of another car at all (and I rent a lot of cars so I have experience with many different makes) that has the auto button turn the climate off. In fact, most cars you can't even "disable auto" with the auto button. It's just there to turn on Auto and in a few cars, to adjust the aggressiveness of the auto function.

If it works the same as other Ford's auto climate systems, changing the fan speed only takes the fan speed out of auto, the vents that the air is flowing out of and it's temperature is still automatic. Same goes the other way. If you force it to come out of a certain set of vents, the auto light will turn off but the fan speed will still be automatically controlled.
Or just rename it auto/off. Or add a separate off button next to it. Either way I don't think it is very confusing personally.... 3 bars 2 bars 1 bar 0 bars....

That could work. Or, switch the A/C button to be some sort of toggle between A/C, Heat, Auto and off. My thermostat at home has these options. In an EV the A/C and Heat are the things that are robbing you of miles. The circulation fan is such a small amount of energy, leave that on. Just kill the part that's sucking battery.
The fact that there is a quick off for the A/C and not the heat is just a hold over from ICE cars where there was no option to turn off the heat.

Yeah, that would be A/C and E-Heat. I just want a quick way to turn those on or off without going into a separate menu. Adding the button for A/C is a good start, but if they just made that button a climate on/off button it would provide better functionality (for me).

Need advice on heated seat controls so I'm resurrecting this thread. My wife is extremely heat sensitive and can't stand the heated passenger seat. Is there any way to suppress or disable the heat to the passenger seat during the cabin prep? Love you all!!

I don't think there is a way to do that but if your wife rarely uses the seat heater, you can easily disconnect it under the seat.

If you’re preheating manually you can turn off all seat heat after starting climate control. Then turn just yours on when you get to the car. But really, I believe @markboris has the best solution.

Ford should have a "Last Setting" option in the Remote Start settings for heated seats. That way before you turn off the car, have the drivers seat on and passenger seat off. All they have in remote start settings is Auto and Off. In Auto, they both come on. In Off, they are both off. If you have the seat heat settings Off in the remote start settings and remote start your car then touch the seat heat button on the Ford App, BOTH seats will come on.

If OP or anyone is interested in disconnecting the seat heater for the passenger, the photo below will help out.

Looking at the circled areas, I have purposely disconnected the connectors out of their sockets. You can see the connectors hanging down below the socket. To disconnect there is a tab on the connectors you push in and at the same time push it back out of the socket. Make sure you lift the seat all the way up and back to get extra room under there.
