yeah I don't seem to recall the original capri being all that special much less iconic.
It is was not very common on this side of the pond as a mercury Capri, but in Europe it was very iconic, seeing as it was at the time basically the European mustang. I doubt you would see Bodie wanting to drive around in one of these or see it evolve into a group 5 race winning porchse killer ;).

But same as with the mustang mach-e ford are all about reusing names in the hope of it boosting sales, it has worked very well with the European puma cuv, jury is still out if it will work with this as styling wise it is very generic as the carpi design touches don't really add much.

I personally think this is a potential winner for Ford and just do not understand people tearing their hair out about Ford reusing vehicle names that they own. I look forward to the Ranchero EV sedan.

Wasn't the original Capri really a prettied-up Ford Cortina?
I think the question is "why"... especially since it's practically a full copy of the Explorer EV they're also selling in Europe. Why both?

I think the name is fine, the design is questionable... but overall, just what is this offering that that Explorer doesn't?

I had a 79 with the Turbo 4 cylinder. I had to get rid of it because it couldn’t handle even a couple inches of snow.
Ford Mustang Mach-E Here we go again... Capri EV crap car

In Tucson I didn't have snow, but I also didn't have working AC :( (79 turbo) but I had posi!

It's a partnership with VW. They are slightly different, based on ID4 and ID5. That's why.

I’m more confused people are anti the yellow.

99% of cars on the road are black, white, or silver. Let’s get some color back out there.
Yep. While I'm a bit surprised they picked yellow as the display model, it's way better than white or black. I'd have probably picked red or blue or green as the color to introduce the car in though. Something that pops but it's quite so bold as the yellow.

First the mustang, now the Capri, taking a beloved coupe and slapping the name on an electric crossover. I don't see this thing going over very well.

This will actually go over quite well, there is no long term love for the Capri, heck, it isn't even in production and has not been for quite some time.

That's the steering wheel the Mach-e should have. Give me a flatter bottom.

Just the opposite for me. When highway cruising, I rest my arm in my lap and grip at the very bottom (seat high and wheel low). It's hard enough getting it low enough.

I also don't like the flat top because a low wheel blocks part of the driver display. I have that problem in the Mach-E, where it cuts off the upper corners of the screen. A flat top would would block it even more.

So I guess this must have been too far along to fit Ford's pivot away from larger EVs to small ones with small batteries to try and cut costs and be profitable?

Yes, and I also like the center screen below the dashboard

I am biased and miss my Tri Yellow Mustang, honestly didn’t get a Mach E until this year because everyone on the lots was always white lol.

At 90350 ‘Stang miles, I went to enquire after an Explorer or Capri in case I decide to change soon. Explorer at dealer next month but smaller than Capri due in at end of year but smaller than Mach-e so VERY difficult to not to want another MME, what a car it’s been! I absolutely luvvit!
