Has anyone had this issue, I just got the quote back from Ford Dealer and was told the High Voltage Junction box module has gone bad, and its going to cost over 5k to repair. I asked about previous recalls but they say my car is not on the list. I have a 2021 Mach-e Premium x-range. I have 126k miles on it so its out of warranty. I feel like this issue is directly related to this recall. I also think this price is a little high and not sure how to shop this around I feel like its gotta have a Ford person do it. Any thoughts ?

I'm sure someone in the know about warranties and recalls will get back to you but I can tell you $5K to replace that part is way out of line. In 2023 I paid to have mine replaced in my 2021 GTPE ahead of the recall that was coming out because I could not afford to be stranded as I was driving back and forth to the airport several times a month (it is a 2 hour drive for me). The HVBJB was $544 and the labor was $1100. I'm sure the price would be higher now but I doubt $5K. By the way, after the recall came out, Ford reimbursed me for the repair.

You are out of the EV warranty with 126,000 miles. You can call Ford and ask them if they would give you any leeway on the repair since the same part failed again (especially if it was replaced in the past two years).

$5000 is too much for that repair, it should be more like $2500.

Ford has been horrible about this... the part per dealer was unavailable to order, I was told it was going to cause more damage if I kept driving. I have gone through the ringer with Ford. Dealer has had my car for 35 days. I had to reach out and get help multiple times before someone could get this moving, it wasnt the dealer or Ford. Finally had the list vehicle as VOR, so they could escalate the issue, and surprisingly a part was located. Not only am I paying a high fee as the part itself is 1250. but 3800 in labor is shameful. Not to mention 2k in a rental car. Ford will not do anything, no financial assistance, not transportation assistance. The part was unavailable its not an out of warranty issue. Sad, I love the car but I am done with Ford.

Tim, call a few other dealers and get some quotes. These dealers know exactly what it takes to replace that part. There were tens of thousands replaced a couple years ago. You can get the car towed to another dealer if you had to and save some money.

I wonder if this was ever replaced during the recall?

I remain unconvinced that Ford has solved the HVBJB issue with the Mach-E. Repaired vehicles failed, newer vehicles fail. I think it's just a matter of time.

Lightnings don't fail...
