Good, educational video. I wasn't aware they'd developed a process where the whole pack can go in. I figured it would require teardowns and be labor intensive.

All of which is why I bought shares in Li-Cycle a couple years ago before too many people knew who recycled and how. I knew 4-5 years would be needed for economies of scale and the EV market would make Li-Cycle a more valuable equity stock. I encourage everyone who wants to own and operate EVs to consider investing in companies which produce, transport, recycle and repurpose all the EV battery materials.

You're a brave man. I did something similar during a period of rolling black-outs, investing in a fine company that made flywheel energy storage... I try not to think about it anymore.

Glad someone posted this cause I was thinking about it, I hadn’t seen the process before, it’s really cool and way simpler than I thought it would be

nice - thanks for the share.

the "grind it up and spit out gold" recycling process appears to be the most efficient method so we'll probably see manufacturers move away from the modular repairable battery packs and move to what tesla is doing with structural battery packs.

also, once these recycling systems are up and running at scale and, since the precious metals are such a high portion of the cost of EV battery packs, i'd imagine getting a high-percentage core return on your failed battery might be in our future.

Great idea. Difficult to scale. Great on passenger buses too. But alas, I understand because this is not my first purchase of a 'socially responsible' business.

This video is misleading, that company actually hasn't successfully recycled any batteries yet. They just grind them up and leave the contents in sacks until they figure out how the next step works.

I wouldn't put stock in it until someone actually sees the process all the way through to purified lithium carbonate. They could be another "sketchy" eco startup that exists to collect money from investors.

Interesting video for sure. What I really want to know is why is his hat so poofy? What's going on there?

Even better video, IMO, that shows hows how they are being refurbished and repaired for over a decade already now.

But I was told it was going to go in a landfill and be directly responsible for killing thousands of orphaned babies!
thats what the politicians that lobby for new minerals want you to believe, and if you just throw it away. responsibility has it’s perks.

thats what the politicians that lobby for new minerals oil and gas want you to believe, and if you just throw it away. responsibility has it’s perks. No Vehicle owner throws away vehicles. They turn it over to someone else to address it, who will be clamoring at the prospect of selling/recycling a valuable used EV battery.
Fixed.
