The walk away lock feature is something that has always worked for me. I always use it and it has never failed and never broke. The mirror fold is just an indicator that the car has locked. The profiles feature is a different story - it sometimes works and it likes to play games. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I sometimes have to press the profile button on the door to get my profile (seat and mirrors).

I actually just tried that and I do think that you're right. The issue may be that the fob is telling the car to follow my wife's profile, even though I set up the profiles myself beginning with my own... Though my profile has been selected this whole time.

She did have auto-fold turned on, and after turning it off earlier it did not auto fold on me when I got home from work just now, so here's to hoping that was the issue and it's resolved now.
Profiles are tied to fobs, so you need to ensure that all settings for each person are set to the button on the door, and the fob is on that profile, then take YOUR fob with you, not hers.

Ha, well, we only have the one fob, so... I may try to reassociate the fob with my profile somehow? Guess I'll figure that out next.

I can confirm my mirrors folded in exactly once when I picked up the car. They have never folded since setting that preference, which is impressive since the "interior alarm sensors" reset every single software update.

So the answer is - they are working just fine. Your wife's profile, and the fob, are making them do exactly what they are set for. And, since you only have one fob, the answer is to turn off folding mirrors in both profiles (as you have now done). Set the fob to her profile, so the seat and mirror settings are for her. Then, when you drive, open the door and hit button 2 (assuming she is button 1) before getting in, and the seat and mirrors will adjust to your settings.

You could also setup your phone for PaaK, which would be tied to your profile, and then not bring the fob, if you like to take risks.

If you want to associate your profile with the FOB depends on who is going to be driving the car the most. You want to associate that person with the FOB and then the other person will have to push their profile button when they get in the car. To change the association of the FOB select the profile button in the upper right and then the right profile and then the pencil icon by the selected profile. Note that the profile that is currently associated with the FOB should have a line for Un associating the FOB with the profile (after you have selected the pencil icon). If you need to switch between profiles do that first.

In our case I'm the principal driver and so the FOB is associated with my profile, and my wife presses her profile button (2 on the door, I'm 1 on the door).

We have two FOBs that could be associated with each of us, but if we did that then we wouldn't know which one was being selected if we both are in the car which is a good percentage of the time. In our case, my wife never drives this car alone, so I'm just the one that holds the FOB.

I also want to mention something that confused me when I first started using the car. It doesn't seem to be your problem though. For me, I thought the car was losing the mirror positions because when I would come back to the car after it folded the mirrors they would be in the wrong position.

My mistake was that I thought that because I had just changed the position of the mirrors while my profile was selected it would remember that position. But that wasn't the case, you have to hold down your profile button in the door to save the position. There are some settings that it will remember without holding down the profile button, but this isn't one of them.

My wife has profile 1, me 2. When I get in the car, there are so many adjustments that we differ in that I know immediately if it's her profile and not mine. I just hit the 2 button on the door and I'm ready to go.

If you use pre-start climate to precondition the cabin, there is not a profile attached to the car yet. When you get in and press Start, you may have to select your profile as @lonndog mentioned. I've found that I needed to go through all profiles to disable the auto-fold feature for everyone to keep it from folding when not wanted, like in winter icy conditions.

For the first 3 years of ownership, I was basically the only driver, so one profile. I never had a problem with random settings changing. Once my wife started driving the car regularly, I set up a profile for her and assigned it to her fob. Her profile has different seat and mirror positions, she uses Engage vs my Unbridle, and she doesn't use 1PD. About once per week, when I start the car (I use PAAK), it will be in Engage and about once per month, 1PD is off. This never happened before I set up her profile. It’s not selecting her profile, just picking one of those 2 settings (at times).
When she drives, her settings are always correct.

FWIW….maybe this is a helpful data point.

I turned the noise (honk) off and use the mirrors also. I am pretty sure the flob if mapped to one profile and the car does not know who is carrying the flob "yet".

My wife has driven it at least 4 times in 4 1/2 years and it always adjusts for her she said and always for me also. It was a bit buggy at first but rock solid for the last few years.

So, I keep meaning to ask this, and this seems like as close a thread as I'm going to get. I have 3 fobs (the one that came with the car, the one that 2021s got through the CSP, and a Lightning fob that I programmed myself). The car does not seem to distinguish between them. If I assign one of them to my wife's profile, any fob will activate that profile. Am I missing something?

Did you add the FOB(s) to the profile(s)?

Just to be clear, it is possible to open the car, start, and drive it without ever associating the FOB with a profile. If you don't do that then it will not switch to that profile when the FOB is used. This goes for the using your phone as a key too.

Since my wife never drives the Mach-E without me I never did that for the second FOB that we have, so out of curiosity I just did it. And it did as expected. I brought that second FOB to the car and it selected her profile. Then I brought my FOB to the car, and it selected my profile.

Yup, I added the Lightning Fob to my profile, and then one of the other fobs to my wife's profile. When I use my Lightning key, her profile loads.

Then I’m not sure what is going on there, the two FOBs I have came with the car, so maybe that’s the difference.

I'm having this problem too. Since I turned on the auto mirror feature with my key (assuming my profile), the setting will not go back to OFF. Mirrors are constantly opening and closing when I walk by the car. All this because my puddle light wasn't working.
