The negative reactions I have received have been few and far between, and they’ve centered almost exclusively on the nameplate.

Mine's not due til the end of the year and I've already heard that it's not a Mustang.

I said 'I agree'.

Just bend with the wind for now. It'll stop before too long.

I have had two friends say that and I just told them, "my future GT will do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds". That pretty much shut it down. :D

Took it to a classic car show in CA to hang with my cousin (he drives a 68 "Bullitt"). While not exactly haters, some preferred the "Bullitt" over the MME. I get it, it was a classic car show and I showed up in a BEV. Besides that event, it has been overwhelmingly positive.

I actually had a guy in a Volvo come up to me the other day and ask “is that the new Mustang?”
I always like it when people correctly identify the vehicle as a Mustang and don’t simply refer to it as a “Mach E”. nobody wanders around saying “hey, nice W reg” when they’re referring to a VW Toureg ?

I had a guy in an ecoboost try and get a jump on me. It was pretty funny as i waved at him through the rear window

Being an old (emphasis on old) musclecar and ponycar guy, I just call it the “Mach-E.”

I’m still on the fence about whether it was wise to prefix that withe the Mustang name, but it’s Ford product and they can call it what they like.

Maybe different where you are, but up here in the outskirts of Portland Oregon I get a few looks and had a couple questions/comments, but def not the level of attention a lot of you are reporting.

My wife keeps saying it's not a mustang, too. However, I find it every bit as fun to drive as either of my V-6 mustangs, and definitely better than my 4cyl '87 LX. That's good enough for me to earn the pony badge.

The only thing it's missing is a convertible; it would have been nice to have a sliding opening in the glass roof.

I’ve noticed that too! I personally just call it a Mach-E, but I’m surprised most people know it as “The New Mustang” (and seem to act as if it’s the replacement for the classic Mustang).

When people say “it’s not a Mustang” (which hasn’t been too common), I generally just say “I kinda agree, but I can’t help what Ford’s marketing and wants to call it. But either way it’s a great vehicle, and I’m loving it.” Seems to diffuse it.

Funniest encounter I had was a guy who came up to me in the Trader Joe’s parking lot who said “ I didn’t know Ferrari made an SUV”. I eventually told him it was a Ford Mustang and that it was pretty fast. He mistook the Mustang badge. He wanted to hear the engine! He finally understood it was a pure electric after a few minutes. He really liked the car.

I stopped at a gas station the other day in my MME. (Yes really). I was going in to get a bottle of water actually. Both attendants inside asked about the car and ditched the customers for a minute while they took turns going outside to look at it. yes, still had to pay for my water. ;)
