I love the fact that the brake lights don't come on. Lets me slow down when I see a police car and it doesn't flash bright LED brake lights. Like how I used to pull the e brake handle in my stick shift cars.
Never thought of that. Thanks!!!

I use 1PD exclusively in my AWD Mach as this suits my driving style. I know that the brake lights are on when actually stopped as I could see them reflected in the vehicle following me. Does anyone know at what stage of regenerative braking the brake lights come on - is it immediately on application or at the last moment?
I use 1-p unbridled with auto-hold enabled exclusively.... brings me to a smooth and complete stop with brake lights.

brake lights trigger at a *fairly low* level of regen... similar to a light touch on mech brakes.

1PD uses auto-hold whether you have it enabled or not. The setting is only relevant when not using 1PD.

So sneaky!

But I’m fairly certain any police officer isn’t fooled.

I can’t imagine not using 1 pedal driving. It’s so smooth and easy and I feel like the regen adds a lot of energy back. I do drives 12 miles across town where I live and regen regularly adds 3-4 miles back, mostly driving in unbridled.

1 pedal doesn’t affect the amount of energy you get from regen.

Unless you slam the brakes, you get the same level of regen in every mode if you decelerate at the same rate.

1PD, L, any mode or hitting the brakes….. all are using regen.

I'm glad to see there's so much variability in what everyone is comfortable with. With past cars, I've mused at how odd it seemed to provide convenient access to various drive mode settings and whatnot; once I found what I liked, those buttons never got used again.
But now I find that I really like having quick access to that L mode and wish Park Hold was as convenient to toggle on and off (would be great use for that |P| button🤔).

I'm gonna need to try 1pd a bit more, and see if I can get used to it - seems way more popular than I'd have guessed!

I hate 1-pd, I use "L" mode all the time except on freeways. To each his own.

Patient: Doc it hurts when I do this.
Doc: Don’t do that.

Edit: May be just me but I don’t see how switching in and out of L on the fly is convenient. Why not just use 1pd?
Or even ACC. I used that is heavy, stop and go traffic for miles through Massachusetts. Actually, I used BC and it worked as intended for miles.

I never use "L" mode because "L" is for losers!! (said like Jim Carey) 😁😂 - sorry I couldn't help myself.

I really like the drive mode/style options on this car. To add to the chorus: My primary drive mode is Engage with 2PD. I like it to feel like a "regular" car (makes it easy for other non-EV folks to drive it as well). When I'm feeling impatient (lots of passing), I change to Unbridled (I do like the level of regen in that mode too). In inclement weather, I used 1PD in Whisper and found the car tracked really well during slushy lane changes. It would be cool if drive modes where selectable on the steering wheel. I think I'd prefer that to volume controls given the big ass knob we have for that.

At hyper legal speeds probably not, but in a pack of cars where you are the one going the fastest, it might make a difference because brake lights are a dead giveaway.

The radar gun tells no tales.

Unless it’s night time, how would they see the brake lights anyways if they’re in front of you.

Either way, it’s literally their job. And they’ve seen it all. I doubt any of them are fooled by regenerative braking nor engine braking. Or the 3 mph difference it makes.

If anything, if they’re shooting radar and you see them before they zap you…… brake. You’ll get zapped at a lower speed.

I’m guessing 99% of the people passing a police car hit the brakes anyways. You doing the same doesn’t exactly make you stick out.

Ford, more regen on 1pd in all modes, and less sensitive brake light application, please. We can handle it.

I'm a little confused, unbridle with 1PD turned off has very aggressive regen in my opinion, are people using L because it's not enough still or driving exclusively in other modes?

I personally hate 1PD, my foot never gets comfortable, but I love the car has options. I do get a little uncomfortable with the brakes lights not engaging on unbridled when coasting sooner or at all, the car will slow down to about 5mph pretty quickly in unbridled without 1PD when your foot is off the go pedal.

The great thing about the car is we have options to choose driving style and the 1PD toggle.
