Hello,
I have seen similar issues to ours on this forum so I wanted to post .
We are having issues with our Level 2 home charging with our Ford mobile charger (that came with the vehicle).
In the last few weeks the vehicle stops charging after about 15-30 minutes, regardless of the charge settings. The FordPass app says "charging stopped at home". The charger displays a solid yellow & a solid blue light. We are using a Nema 1450 outlet, that we have been using almost 2 years now without incident.
We were instructed by Ford customer service to take the vehicle to our dealer & have them test the charge & the vehicle.
This is the results from our dealer.....

"SSM 51513 2021-2023 Various Vehicles - High Voltage Battery Stops Charging With Illuminated MIL And DTC P2C94 Stored in the SOBDM.
Some 2021-2023 Ford & Lincoln vehicles may exhibit a condition where the high voltage battery stops charging when connected to Level 1 or Level 2 chargers with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2C94 stored in the secondary on-board diagnostic control module A (SOBDM).
to restore charging capability, disconnect the off-board charging station charge handle from the vehicle charge port and reconnect. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in June 2023. Replacement of the SOBDM will not resolve this condition.
Monitor OASIS for additonal information. "

So we have an electric vehicle that will not charge without user intervention, which seems quite impractical to me.

I believe that is an incorrect diagnosis. The yellow light on the mobile charger means it's overheating and needs to be replaced. It's a problem with the charger, not the vehicle. If you search the forum there are tons of topics about the yellow light coming on and slowing down charging.

Our charger shows a solid yellow light next to the solid blue light, both are displayed.
The technician stated " Plug in & test customers charge cord. Used charge cord for several hours without issues."
We brought the vehicle home to charge & the issue is not resolved.

And many others...

The charger is bad. Tech may have lied because the dealer didn't have a 240V outlet, or it was air conditioned inside so it wasn't hot enough to trigger compared to your garage.

You could always get another charger and see if it makes a difference. Sorta rules out if it's the charger. I did that a while back, same thing happened with a new charger, then my electrician investigated further. Mine worked for like 1.5 years before I had an issue. It was electrical and has since been fixed. Then just returned the new charger. But a quick and easy way to see if it's the charger or the car or something electrical.

If they used it on a vehicle with a lower charge rate (PHEV, for example), it likely won’t show the problem.
Take your car in and have them test the combination together.

The supplied Ford Mobile Charger isn’t really designed well enough for full-time use. I suggest you get a new EVSE (charger) for your garage that’s designed to be used as an everyday charger. I have the ChargePoint Home Flex and love it, but there are less costly options available too like Grizzl-E that people seem to also like.

I have the Grizzl-e. Works well, no issues. I thought it might be the issue, but I bought a charge point just to try, same issue. My electrician found the issue (we fixed one issue, so we thought it was the charger, it wasn't, had to replace my breaker). I returned the charge point and have been using the Grizzl-e with no issues for 2 years now.

The included Mobile charger works just fine for daily use. I've used mine since 2/2021 to charge both my MME (25kmiles+), and wifes BMW 330e (28k+).

Ours was doing this same thing a few months ago, then finally went to just blue. Last night it died and just red light. Needs to be replaced under warranty, stay firm with the service department and push for it to be replaced. We are way out of warranty so we are sol

I finally got mine replaced under warranty. It worked for two+ years but I was getting the intermittent amber light. The dealer tested it and said it was fine but we figured out that they didn’t have a 220v NEMA 14-50 outlet. i finally convinced them to order a new one. They still wanted to test the car again before I got it but it only took about 30 minutes. The new one looks a little different and works fine so far.

Tip for everyone: If you bring the charger to the dealer, make sure you take the 120V cord out of the bag so they are forced to use the 240V plug. They need to test it with 240V not 120V. Unfortunately many EV dealers still haven't installed 240V outlets yet (blows my mind that Ford didn't require that years ago).

That scenario is what happened on the first try. The tech said they charged it for a few hours and it worked fine. It wasn’t until I got home and tried to plug in the charger in my garage that I realized that the plug was changed to the 110 plug. I called the service advisor back and we had a discussion about it which finally brought the decision to order a new charger. I still had to bring the car back in for another checkout before leaving with the new unit.

I'm glad you've had a good experience using it daily, but if you read through the forum, there are a large number of people who have had this problem. Your experience has been good; for many others, it hasn't.

We've been using the OEM charger since May 5 w/o issues. My thinking is to continue using it and if it dies in warranty get it replaced. If it dies outside of warranty well we've got other 240v chargers we could use (from previous MY and current i4).
