Right? He must be the victim now. 😂

It’s interesting how quickly some people swing to defend as soon as the DUI is brought up.

When it’s just an insane person wrecking a car everyone attacks.

But they might be under the influence and all of a sudden we get a science, medical and legal lesson. 🤷‍♂️

This person could have killed someone and we are lucky they didn’t. I may make jokes, but in reality I have zero empathy here. No excuse for what we saw in the video.
DUI =Idiot in my book.

1. No. DUI is not an abbreviation for Driving While Intoxicated. It’s driving under the influence.
2. Again no, they’re arrested because it’s alleged they were under the influence. Testing isn’t perfect. Car based breathalyzer machines are notoriously inaccurate. The ones at the station are only slightly more accurate. Field Sobriety tests aren’t designed to test your sobriety, they’re designed to give police officers grounds to back up their reason for pulling you over. Failure in those tests, regardless of reason, including artificial limbs and joints, gives probable cause for arrest.
3. The only test worthwhile is a blood sample done at a hospital.

Unless the test has been fully adjudicated, alleged is the only proper response.
Hard to blow over when you are on crack.

I speculate the driver was totaled.
Made me gag.

So many flaws in the AI - as it leaves the concrete divider - there's a wheel half way down the car. The green side would have been ripped to base with even more damage. Then there's his hands.. Still it keeps everyone amused

It’s a real video, not AI. Driver was under the influence.

Oh look drugs, I was right days ago.

Guys I know “AI” has been promised to do everything in the world.

But people being stupid hasn’t went away because of it.

"Driving under the influence," not Drunk.....

Likely driving under the influence of drugs, given the limited evidence, including the driver's (seemingly) unawareness of what was going on, not responding to what was going on, seemingly praying, etc...

Perhaps @austinsf or @Administrator can change the title of the thread to indicate that the car is not at fault? 🤷‍♂️🐩

In my opinion, AI will steadily make us more and more stupid. Brains are lazy, and thinking is hard.

I have a whole soapbox speech about this, but I think the forum might explode...

I have a different view. AI will make some people smarter because they will need to stay ahead of it. It will make some stupid because they'll let AI take the lead. You choose which side of the divide you want to be on - there isn't much room for middle ground here.

Possibly. There will be a trial unless the San Mateo County DA’s office sentence bargains the case to a guilty plea (far more common than plea bargaining fwiw). Or if the driver just decided to get this over with and move on (common btw).

In any event, the trial information is public record. Those terminally curious enough can go dive into it after the fact and find out and what arguments and evidence were presented to negate the blood alcohol/drug tests (whichever ones were given). All bets are off if there’s a guilty plea though. There’ll be no evidence introduced except as to sentencing.

In all honesty, whoever the driver was is probably facing more than a “simple” dui charge. As a now long ago attorney, I really want to know what happened before that video started.

Google tells me that DUI charges take between 3 and 12 months to reach a conclusion in the SFO Bay area. The latter presumes a more complicated case than “simple” drunk driving and that it goes to trial. There’s no guarantee this is a complicated case though. The facts might be pretty straight forward. Or not. ;)

Should read “drugged and/or drunk driver who just happens to be in a Mach-e goes rogue”

could’ve been in any car with the same consequences, or even worse!
