If such a thing were possible $25k - $50K is nowhere near enough. The hours/engineering talent required to do such a thing I would estimate to be around $200k - $300k.
Technically it should cost around $0 for someone to crack the code.

Just like when someone cracked the Tesla code to update power, just need a nerd, a computer and some time.

Whether that time is worth $50k or $200k would be up to that nerd.

That said, the aftermarket tuning companies that do tunes for ICE vehicles need to figure it out in the next few years or go out of business.

And a new challenger enters the fray - Polestar 3 from Gothenberg, Sweden by way of Ridgeville, South Carolina. Weighing in at probably 5800 lbs but sporting 510/671 hp/tq in the Performance trim. And adaptive dampers. ?

p.s. - with a rear biased awd setup that features torque vectoring on the rear motor.

Kinda funky looking. Not bad though.

But if it weighs that much it’ll be slower off the line than the GT.

Also guessing it’ll cost a lot more.

I'll weigh in here. I've had the GTPE for 11 months and 8k miles. It's obviously fast off the line and up to highway speeds. But, it's also pretty damn fast from 40-80 as there's a freeway onramp/merge situation I see on the way to work. It also pulls very well from 75-100 when I need to pass. Where I see it falling off is at 100+. Anyone who thinks it's unsafe or not fast enough from 75-100 must come from something well north of 600hp, which I have in my Shelby.

Or they live somewhere really cold.

If it’s warm outside, 75-100 is fine to pass, etc. but not to race.

But it’s just damn slow compared to how fast it is 0-75.

Compared to the competition, in every video, it looks like we hit the brakes at 75 mph…… even though our foot is on the floor.

Polestar is about as Swedish as PF Chang's menu is Chinese. Last I heard China was still putting their US plans on hold because the US acknowledged the independence of Taiwan from the CCP.

Good thing it's not a race car.

Yep, I knew you’d say that. Volvo’s and Polestar’s design and engineering are in Sweden, no different than the thousands of U.S. companies that offshore their manufacturing the China but maintain design/r&d/engineering stateside. Plus, do you even know how many Volvos are built in South Carolina, USA? So get off it already. You remember learning about comparative advantage in Econ?

Actually the relationship is quite different. Polestar portrays an image that's just western enough for western folks to buy their cars. They have some jobs in Sweden (it's actually a small 2-story building), lots and lots of jobs in China. It's controlled by the CCP via Chinese banks who own the majority on their stock. So, to correct you, it's nothing like how US companies are operated.

The material science coming out of China is sub par. Can't trust that the steel / aluminum being fabricated there will perform up to spec. There is always a difference between paper engineering and how it works in the real world. I also have concerns with the automation processes in their plants. Companies like Apple seem to have it figured out, but obviously Tesla has some issues i.e. panels not fitting the car correctly.

With that said Honda makes a pretty reliable car. Nothing flashy, but they are reliable.

?

Really? Ford sure seemed to advertise it as one.

First exclusive that was posted 2 days before ordering began…. Racing at a track.
https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2021-ford-mustang-mach-e-gt-first-ride-review-exclusive/

And a year before that? We got teased with this……

First press event? Was at a race track:

And you wonder why we would want to take ours to the track?

I saw the new Polestar, under its “camo” wrapping a few months ago. Living in SoCal near twisty mountain roads we see a lot of cars with this type of wrap. Unfortunately, I saw it just sitting at a light so I can’t really comment much else about it.

Well, I was a manufacturing engineer tasked with setting up offshore production of our product in China in the late ‘90s-early aughts. If you think Polestar’s arrangement in China differs that much from many U.S. companies I have news for you bro. Shitty licensing deals, subsidiary companies that steal the tech and then make their own identical product and undercut sales prices. Yeah, all of it.

Hondas for our market are made in the U.S. or Japan. And Chinese metals aren’t the same as in the ‘90s my friend.

That said, they seem to have a penchant for stealing intellectual properties as well as ripping off patented products to produce themselves.
