For those who want to track their MME's, how well are you doing on an autocross track? I've never seen an autocross track where you'd be able to mash it for 5 seconds straight, so should be pretty fun.

Mine can do parking lot drifts for longer than five seconds. So I'm good.

3.7s. Ford marketed the GTPE as 3.5s, and to date, I've not seen anyone able to reproduce that time. Has anyone?
I can forgive the optimistic 0-60 time but for 72 grand the 5 second limit was an issue for me.

It was one I could get past but the poor job by @Ford Motor Company on the HVBJB recall made me sell mine. I know the probabilities were low but I wasn’t comfortable at the thought of taking long road trips, which was the purpose. The slow charging times didn’t bother me either. Fortunately in this environment I didn’t lose any money on the deal.

I own quite a few Fords including the Lightning but this situation will make me reconsider my next purchase.

We had hoped to track our car and end up with a new hobby because of it. Very disappointed in the 5s rule Ford implemented, but it is still a really fun car to drive and we are very happy with it. Initial new model, stuff like this comes up. Being an EV, it is more difficult to engineer around the engineering. The MME in our garage will eventually go away, and the next EV will have been around for a bit, and perhaps one we can go to the track with.
Model 3 Perf with track mode would’ve been a good choice for that hobby.

Actually would do well in AutoX…… when compared to an ICE GT (depending on how many laps and course length). But it’ll run out of breath of course. The grey bars start to compound. But in a super short comparison…….. not too bad:

To me, if one is crying about not being able to track the car, but doesn't even bother to Autocross- they're just crying. Hey, let's face it. Some people like to bitch. My brother is un-apologetic about his propensity to bitch. For those who are closet bitchers, it might be liberating to come out.

I'd love to go Autocrossing in the Mach-E. The only time I've done it was in one of my Boss 302's and it was a blast.

Anyone in the Bay Area want to organize a group outing?

Since some of you might be wondering why I had more than one Boss 302, there's an old saying. Don't bring anything to the track you can't afford to leave at the track...

You completely lost the point, but that happens in a 14 page thread.

YOU said that it “isn’t a race car.” I posted all the advertising that showed it racing on a track.

This has nothing to do with whether or not I plan on going to an AutoX with it. It’s how Ford marketed it, so it’s reasonable to assume based on the marketing that it would be track capable.

How it matters to me? It’s too damn slow after 5 seconds. Not bitching for the sake of bitching, it affects me and how I drive. And yes, I take every car I own to the local 1/4 mile drag strip at some point. Haven’t taken the GTPE yet because I still “had” hope it would get faster.

LOL if affects you and how you drive. I'd agree with the former, but I have my doubts on the latter.

At first it was my dog’s cancer that was affecting how I drive. That probably saved my HVBJB, although I would rather have the dog than the original HVBJB. Now, it’s the HVBJB that is affecting how I drive. On the bright side the HVBJB also is preventing me from seeing the 5 second limit since I don’t WOT any more in this car. ??

We both agreed on one thing, we hate how the Teslas look, inside and out. Since the car was going to be a daily driver and we travel a lot, this immediately ruled out anything Tesla.

I initially said no to the MME because I did not want the “tablet nailed to the dash” look, but the rest of the car won me over.

We gave Mr. Musk money for a PowerWall because it looked good and has features we wanted and in a footprint that fit the space we had available. Also hand over money for Starlink so I do not think we can be classified as haters of the company.

I don't mind the tablet nailed to the dash look at all, in fact in the Lightning p/u it's quite handy. Thus, the model 3 tablet dash is fine for me too. The mustang, I know this is subjective, is much better looking than the 3, although I don't dislike the 3 at all. However, for pure EV perf, range and efficiency the 3 is tough to beat.

I don't think dislike qualifies for being a hater at all.

It's actually not optimistic. Exactly as advertised, from a roll like every other manufacturer measures it. 3.5 roll and 3.7 from dead stop. I've done these numbers on all seasons in my GT on the street. Seen 3.5 from a stop online at drag strips.

The GTPE has massive power, it's just has limitations on how long you can have it. 0-60 blast is amazing but the quarter less so. Moreover, it pulls power at high speeds during normal driving as we all know. None of that is a huge issue other than the marketing of the car. Again, this were nits but there was enough of them when you add in the lack of accountability on the HVBJB issue.

yeah, i feel a bit exploited. I like driving mine, but the premium was not worth it. I've never been a Ford guy, and still am not. Glad you got your money out of it.
