Will just add that I'm in Baltimore, Maryland. Place my order for a red ER, AWD, Premium, light interior, on March 10. Still no production date, but do have a VIN as of 3 weeks ago.

First I'm learning about the allocation system. What a joke on the consumer.
I don't even have a Vin yet.

Try calling 18003344375 if you haven't already. That's where I learned I even had a VIN. The only Ford emails I've received are "Thrills Ahead" and "6-week delay" (HA!)

I am not sure the allocation is the problem either. I ordered from the 3rd largest dealer in the Midwest and they have had two. One was their demo and the other was a rout 1 that their sales manager ordered for himself when it was announced.
I agree it is not the root of the problem, but it certainly does impact some people who have decided to pick the wrong dealer to place an order. Hindsight is 20/20, and at the time I placed my order I did not think it mattered which dealer I used. Now I realize it matters, but for all I know it will be my dealer's "turn" the day after I place my order. Or not, as it happened to me in reality.

It is time for me to start complaining more loudly to my dealer, and then maybe they will push Ford a little harder. What else can we do?

I don't think Ford is entirely following the region/dealer allocation process yet for Mach E. I think special orders trump allocations still.
Not sure that special orders trump allocation or other factors. I'm sure that it's in the equation, though. According to other threads on this forum there are people who either reserved after I did or had no reservations who have production weeks before mine. So obviously there are multiple factors determining when a production week is assigned, etc.

Yeah, I went with a dealer a bit further out in the boonies than the ones around here. The biggest one around here I bought my Fusion from and I will never buy from them again. The dealer I went with posts on the forum here and seems to be much more up front, so I don't really regret changing to them from the closer dealer. Hopefully, when I take delivery they will treat me as well as I am hoping.

No doubt there are mutiple factors playing into the production scheduling. However, from everything we've seen Ford is not using the old allocation model for the Mach E.

May be there's the problem. We are waiting on the exact same specs down to color. I ordered mine from one of the biggest name ans oldest dealerships in the Midwest. (FYI that's not why I we t there my family has has the same Saleen there foralmost 30 years but got someone else..... and I upset story). I wonder if it Bhaskar anything to do with allocation it's because they already got there's.
Also ordered ER AWD Premium, Dark Matter Grey. Order submitted and accepted by dealer June 4. Am now in waiting mode with no scheduled production date. Dealer claims to know nothing. At least my current vehicle is still reliable.

Convincing myself that If I get one of the last '21s that's OK because it will be cool to have first model year of what may become an iconic vehicle. If I get a '22 that's OK because it allegedly will have minor HW changes that will improve range. Biggest concern is therefore what Congress might do to the $7500 tax credit for vehicles purchased in 2022.

when are you supposed to have the VIN number? I have a date of production (changed from 10/4 to 10/11 as well). But was curious how I can acquire my VIN

Ford assigns the VIN when production is scheduled. Your dealer can get the number for you.

Wouldn't orders HAVE to take precedence over an area (CA) that dominates a market. If allocations ruled, they'd never get around to shipping an order to Wisconsin or VT.

Hold tight. It took 16 weeks, 2 days to get scheduled for production for my premium ER RWD. Ordered 4/27 and production week is 10/4.

I called my dealer yesterday and he had my VIN #. BTW he also said it would definitely be a 2021 model year car (production week 10/11)
