I am sure this has been asked but maybe this one is different. I ordered on May 8th and still don't have a production date. I have seen multiple people with the same specs who ordered in July already get a delivery date. Any thoughts/ways to follow up?

Premium, and, extended range
Does your dealer have any MME allocation from Ford? If not, then you are in the same situation as I am. I placed my order with the dealer on May 15 but Ford has not accepted the order from the dealer yet because my dealer has not received any MME allocation since I placed my order.

Each region only gets a limited number of each vehicle they can order and then that is split between the dealerships in the region. I have not seen anyone explain how that allocation is determined but some have guessed it has to do with dealer size. My dealer is small and in a small town, so I think I might be in a much better position if I had ordered my MME from a dealer in Northern VA or VA Beach, instead of the one in Williamsburg. Three months of nothing, because nothing is happening with my order until Ford accepts it. Then the process starts for scheduling it for production. Which is probably another 3-6 months. To say I am frustrated would be an understatement.

I ordered May 17 and got the production notice on August 18 for a production week of October 4th; I.e. almost exactly 3 months after order. My dealer is in southern Maryland and not that big. So I don’t know much about the allocation process but it does seem to punished the low volume dealers and thus their customers. I wish that Ford would use first-in first-out (per car configuration constraints) for production scheduling. I hope you get a production week notice soon. Best of Luck! Btw, I ordered a premium ER RWD.

I am glad yours is moving forward. I think the allocation process sucks, and agree with you that Ford should put a higher priority on the end customer. I suppose the process is rooted in the dealership model, since Ford's primary customer is the dealer, not us. They are trying to make all their most important dealers happy, which ends up screwing over the small ones and people like us who order from them.

This situation is increasing the likelihood that I order another car and give up on my MME. I cannot wait for a car forever, and I have already been waiting 3 months. I am a Ford fan, but this is not helping me maintain my good will toward the brand. Not at all.

Once Ford accepts the order the configuration matters for how long it takes to get the car produced. All the specifics matter including exterior color and interior color. I am unusual compared to those in this forum because I ordered the light interior instead of black. Mine is a ER AWD Premium, Dark Matter Grey. Which again is irrelevant until Ford actually accepts the order. Makes me want to curse in my post!!!!!

I ordered May 7th . GTPE and nothing. I did get confirmation last night it is based on regional allocation. Meaning they need at least 300 GTPE's or whatever you ordered in your region before they will build yours. I was also told mine would almost certainly be pushed to a 22 year model.

May be there's the problem. We are waiting on the exact same specs down to color. I ordered mine from one of the biggest name ans oldest dealerships in the Midwest. (FYI that's not why I we t there my family has has the same Saleen there foralmost 30 years but got someone else..... and I upset story). I wonder if it Bhaskar anything to do with allocation it's because they already got there's.

Demand far exceeds supply, parts shortages are widespread across the auto industry. Your situation doesn’t sound unique. While some others with May orders have received production dates, you’re far from alone.

Yep. Chip shortage. Everything shortage. I understand Ford is in a pickle right now since they didn't do a good job with managing JIT risk, but there should be some consideration given to when the end customer actually places the order with the dealer. I don't think there is any since they are following the region/dealer allocation process.

I don't think Ford is entirely following the region/dealer allocation process yet for Mach E. I think special orders trump allocations still.

Will just add that I'm in Baltimore, Maryland. Place my order for a red ER, AWD, Premium, light interior, on March 10. Still no production date, but do have a VIN as of 3 weeks ago.

First I'm learning about the allocation system. What a joke on the consumer.

I am not sure the allocation is the problem either. I ordered from the 3rd largest dealer in the Midwest and they have had two. One was their demo and the other was a rout 1 that their sales manager ordered for himself when it was announced.
