Mach-E looks pretty good in those tests. Interestingly, Tesla model Why is the only one that grossly overstates the range.
Yup.
They do the 5 cycle test which gives a higher EPA mileage result than the test most other EVs use.

It tricks consumers into thinking they have the best range……..when all the real world tests prove otherwise. Buyer beware.

I'm sort of convinced when a Tesla owner says "My Tesla gets 326 miles on a charge" they are just reading the range off the screen, they haven't actually done the test to see it only goes 270 miles. So it's total BS.

Or they only drive around town and never exceed 35. ??

A Tesla friend keeps asking me how many miles per hour charge do I get on my charger. I start to talk kWh, actual distance driven on a full charge.
Then it’s My Tesla always does… miles because it says so on the screen.
Yup I’ll mark her grades with an X,
keep drinking the koolaid my friend and don’t forget to put the gas cap back on!

I almost traded a MME for a MY because of the charging speed. Real world range were not a criteria because I had seen many reports showing MY and MME had about the same range. When I saw a MY charging at EA at about the same speed as my ER premium, I just scrubbed off the idea. MY might be a bit faster but not worth switching. I talked to a friend this weekend who is still in the market for an EV.

I told him MY is cheaper. He said he would pay more for the look of MME. ?

Very low temperature actually decreases the capacity of Lithium batteries... soooo, warm batteries will give you more range than cold ones even if the outside temp is low for both. You will be a little better off storing an EV in a warmish garage than outside in the winter... in places like CT.

I wonder how long it will take CR to figure this out?

After renting 3 different Teslas in the last 8 months and experiencing multiple superchargers I will echo your statement. The initial charge speed for the 3 and Y starts off high (180-200+) and then drops very quickly to below 100kw. Very disappointing. The overall curve was worse than our 4X because the 20-80% charge time was about 30-35 mins on all occasions. And that’s a 77kwh pack vs an 88-91kwh pack. Screw Tesla.

VW/ID.4 does the same. Charging is in miles per hour - which completely varies depending if you are driving in the city or highway.

The fact that Mach-E doesn't report charging data on the screen is also annoying.

That's funny that the Mach-E and Tesla Y got basically the exact same range results, despite the Y listed at over 50 miles more of range. The EPA needs to get rid of the five-cycle test yesterday.
