Whatever Ford downloaded in the last update sucks. I was at the car wash, and I always leave it on when I go out to dry to keep the air on and I had the dog with me. Well, it locked me out. I took the phone with me. OK fine. use the app on the phone. Nope. I'm logged out and it kicks me out as soon as I log in, so there I am with a crashing app and a locked car. Thankfully I had programmed the door code the same as my 2009 Adrenalin so I can remember it. I get in, and drive away. Well, I get a Frunk Open alarm. WTF? It is a several button process to open the damn thing and I never even went near the latch in the footwell, so does this mean the damn thing can open up whenever it wants? Also, It does not have the accelleration it usually does, and I have 80% charge and in unbridled mode, so there has been some neutering of the throttle strategy. Y'know, "in my day" we didn't relase products until the software was right. This new "release shit and push endless updates" software development sucks. Good software dev truely ended in the 80's when all we had were 8 bit processors and limited memory. It had to fit, and it had to work Period. Today's software "engineers" suck. /Rant off

If the last digit of your door code is 7•8, then you may have told it to open the frunk by entering your code and double pressing or holding too long on the 7.

Also, while you wash the car, the water stream may trigger any of the four padlock touch pads, or even the pin pad on the driver door. My car almost always flashes the lights while I'm washing it, as the water hits the padlocks.

This software update took 30 minutes to upgrade systems and install. It’s just like a computer. Did the install happen while you were walking your dog? Bad things can and will happen if you interrupt the process. I did a manual update yesterday and it said nothing in the car will be used it will be locked cannot open close doors or run anything at all.

I don't like bad updates either, and I'm all for a rant when it's due. However, it's unfair to compare software of today to that 40 years ago. The amount of software that could run on an 8bit CPU before is dwarfed by what can run on the chips in the MME today.

The old waterfall development methodology has it's places, but I don't think isn't suited to the giant software systems of today. If you had to spec out every feature ahead of time, code it all and test it, it would take years between releases. The agile system used today can have side effects like buggy rollouts that take multiple updates to fix.

As time moves on, hopefully the software development teams at Ford will get better at bug testing and the quality will improve.

Most of the things there happened either because you didn't know about certain 'features' like the frunk opening due to the 7-8 keypad buttons or you have a hardware issue (the low power at 80% is really sus and I wonder if it was just you imagining things as people get used to the car speed overtime). I don't think we've had any recent updates that has shifted the power delivery. The app logging out making PAAK unusable maybe is the only software issue but personally I've never had that happen to me in the last year of ownership so can't say if it was an issue with an update or something else.

Software Engineering is way more complex especially when hardware from other manufacturers is involved which is a case for most car companies. In my experience, OTAs have been great and improved the vehicle experience so far.

My car often locks the doors when water runs over the little padlocks. I like to keep the key fob handy when I'm washing the car.

Ah, the mythical electronic frunk release! I've heard of that unicorn. One of these years it might actually work on mine.

I turned off 'auto-updates' as soon as I had a version where everything I needed worked. All I need is reliable PAAK.

Automobiles are personal and passionate for most, especially for early adopters, but the way some people talk to each other in a blog is shocking and disrespectful. From ranting when unnecessary to replying with hateful comments is not needed or welcome to most. Cany we all play nice and get along? We are all in the same place. We bought a car that is new technology that will have bugs from time to time and get frustrated with the problems that arise, but we can and should discuss them together to get through this changing time calmly, professional and respectfully. Show the world that the type of individuals that buy these cars are intelligent and patient users that are willing to work with manufacturers to get a better product.

Not sure why you're ranting about software grandpa. Software Engineering is way more complex especially when hardware from other manufacturers is involved which is a case for most car companies. In my experience, OTAs have been great and improved the vehicle experience so far.
Hi there. The references to opening the frunk using the door code is news to me - so much to learn about my first EV! Can you explain in more detail - how do you open the frunk using the door code! Thanks!

OP, you may want to indicate which update you received. What is most recent to you may not be the "most recent" update, since things are staggered for a lot of users.

As to the issues, as others said I suspect there are other explanations. We are on the newest publicly available versions and I haven't experienced any of these issues. Also you getting logged out of the FordPass app has nothing to do with your vehicle software.

I agree that some of the other responses are harsh, and most of these people probably wouldn't talk to you that way in person, I hope.

Glad you set the door code though, that would have certainly been frustrating. I haven't had any serious PaaK issues so far, but it's always in the back of my mind and makes me question my sanity in never taking the actual FOB. It's my wife's car though so I only drive from time-to-time. If I used it every day I think I would probably be taking the FOB. I work in a software support role, and at Ford, so I am all too wary of new software updates myself. :)

As stated in post #2, enter your code, then push 7/8.

What Rick and I said.

This video is a little overwhelming because it's packed full of info, but it will give you an idea of other things you can do with Securicode. It doesn't mention the frunk or trunk but now that you know how to open the frunk I think you can figure out the trunk through experimentation or research. :)

Same. My last Power-Up was 3.5.2. It works fine, and I may never accept another update.

Which version did you stop at?
