I did not see any mention of energy storage density, which likely means its way heavier/larger than an equivalent Lithium battery and therefore not suitable for use in vehicles.

Maybe that's ok, could still put one of these in your garage/basement instead of a PowerWall to absorb excess solar generation.

Or a working prototype, and price, and definitely no mention of a product ready for market.

Why did this make the news? Because the news doesn’t have to verify anything anymore.

This is just the 500th time someone made the news because they claimed something that sounds impossible when it comes to battery technology.

Call me when someone actually brings a product to market, or at the very least has a full scale working prototype.

I miss the days when news had to be printed. The company printing it had to spend money to do so, therefore they didn’t waste money printing crap. Fact checking, and editing, mattered.

That team is not making a battery, they are making money of the gullible investors.

Just compare the numbers, it's a non-starter

NiH2 battery:

Specific energy	55-75 W·h/kg[1][2]
Energy density	~60 W·h/L[2]

Li-Ion battery:

Specific energy	100–265 Wh/kg (0.360–0.954 MJ/kg)[1][2]
Energy density	250–693 Wh/L (0.90–2.49 MJ/L)[3][4]

on the other end of the energy density scale, consider Pumped-storage hydroelectricity. let me know what lithium chemistry matches it for scale, duty cycle, and cost efficiency.

Just think of how wet the roads would be! But I think his point was that mobility is not the only battery application, and other uses have factors other than energy density that matter.

i'm sorry, i confused you for an adult interested in a good faith discussion. my earlier comment (#6) clearly said i didn't consider the title tech (or by extension, PSH) to be an automotive use case.

No one here has claimed it's for energy storage directly for EVs. It's current suitability could be for fixed locations, like buffering energy at home or at grid scale, etc.

Has no practical applications for consumers. These are also pressurized to ~ 1,000 PSI. Different isn't always better. My next EV will have LMFP, and I'll probably keep it for the long haul.
