after one year of ownership, this does not bother me anymore. the first 8 months of ownership were about obsessively watching range, miles/kwh, turning off heating etc...

not now.

now, i don't care and the reason is i trust the charging network. there are enough fast chargers out there and they keep growing and despite the very minor inconvenience of wait times range is not at all an issue.

leave 50-70 miles in the tank to find a charger and everything is fine.

I don't care as well, just the first few days I was curious about the range and miles/kWh. Since then I have never checked this information and if someone asks me what range has your car .... hmm .... I don't know, I just enjoy driving my pony, would be my response.

I still pay attention to it so I know how far the car can comfortably travel. I charge at home 99% of the time so it’s a non issue for me

My first EV solved my range anxiety, honestly everyone should learn on an old leaf. 80 miles of range on a good day, 50 mile round trip highway commute, and new England winters. After living with that the MME is a breeze

Ha, I was going to say something similar. While the MME is my wife's main car, the one she had before it was a Focus Electric. It is a bit better than the Leaf with 130-ish miles of range, it was still a number that disappeared quickly on the highway or cold weather. Our first "long trip" in that car was Detroit to Ann Arbor and back on one charge, so about 26 miles each way. Hardly a long jaunt, but I remember being nervous about that with all the highway time. But it did great and we got home with about 40% battery.

Now with the MachE, we only look at the battery percentage as just a fun curiosity since all the driving in the FFE that was ten+ percent are just a few single digit percent of the battery. I took it out to run errands yesterday and started at 80% and got home with 73%.

I still have some nerves about our eventual first real longer road trip which will be just under 300 miles one way. But I am more confident by the day that the car and the charging network will handle it just fine.

We're taking our new Lightning to Baltimore at the end of the month. About 500 miles one way. I'm more worried about the return trip the most because I wont be starting out at 100% and preconditioned.

I don’t even charge every night anymore, probably once a week till I get to 50% or so or if I haven’t plugged in in a few days

I hope it goes well! Will be eager to hear about it if you have time to post when you return. Everything I have heard about the Lightning on road trips is it has done what to me seems almost impossible and made the already great F-150 road trip experience even more comfortable.

Why don’t you take your Mustang?

Maybe, I charge once a week. I mean, all that plugging and unplugging is gonna wear the plug out, right?

I have done 1 shortish road trip so far in the Lightning. Day trip about 180 miles each way for a college visit. Zero issues besides a little hiccup with plug and charge. I had to start the charge through the EA app. I think the issue was on my end, missed a toggle in Fordpass.

Next on planned is for Halloween, heading to Pittsburgh for work with a swing through Philly. About 600 miles there and 500 back. No L2 at the hotel so all fast charging. I have done the trip, minus Philly, twitch in our Mach-e so I will see how the Lightning compares.
