OK to just unplug charge while Mach-E is charging?

Can you just unplug the charger while the car is charging or should I stop the charging first in the app? I am just curious. FYI, I have the Tesla Universal charger which has an adapter built into it. There's a button on the adapter you press to unplug it and that stops the charging before it actually disconnects - so maybe that's all you need to do. Thanks!

It's easiest to just push the button next to the charge port, it stops charging and the LEDs turn white, signaling you're OK to unplug. If the car is actively charging, you don't want to disconnect the charge cord from the Tesla to J1772 adapter on your universal charger as that creates a potentially unsafe event. Charging or not, it's best to disconnect the adapter after it's unplugged from the car. Or leave it connected if you're only charging the Mach-E.

To disconnect from a level 2 charge, that adapter should have a button that undoes the adapter from the vehicle, which is the button you want to push. However, pushing the button you are pushing also accomplishes the same thing.

I meant button, and there is no need to push it for level 2. It has no function.

That is the coupler unlock button, for DC charging.

Rick is right. If level 2 charging, like in your garage at home, all you need to do is press the button on the handle of the level 2 (J1772) cord or on the adapter if using a NACS adapter. That will stop the charge and you can pull the plug. The button in the lighted circle to the right of the plug is for stopping level 3 charging. You don’t need to press it to stop level 2 charging. If you are level 3 charging, then yes, press that button before pulling on the heavy CCS1 handle. You will hear the internal lock disengage and the circular lights will extinguish. You can then unplug the level 3 handle.

You can hear the modules click a second or two after you press the button on the plug handle. Wait for that before you unplug.

^^^This, the button definitely stops my Level 2 charging (Charge Point). The charger makes a audible "Click" and the charging circle goes from Blue to White. The one time I forgot and pulled out the charger handle while charging, I received a charging error.

Unsure if it is charger dependent (which is why we are seeing a disagreement here) as my Juice Box level 2 charger did nothing when I pushed the button. However, my ChargePoint acts more like a DCFC in regards to the button next to the charge port. I wonder if it may have been part of the the Tesla update, that enables us to use the Tesla DCFC?...............Just my 2 cents.

btw........Ford (Not AI) this is where you guys should jump in and clarify............please pull an engineer from the Karaoke team for 5 min and let them give us a reasonable explanation......
