I have couple comments for everyone.
Some of you took your Mach Es to accomplish the recalls on the windshield and moon roof. Was anything wrong with them or did it just for accomplishing the recalls. I took mine to dealer and couldn't find anything wrong. I have no issues either, such as wind noise or leaks or uneven installation from the factory. The dealer also informed me how intrusive the procedures will be. They informed me to let go because there was nothing wrong. Did anyone who did the recalls had issues?
Secondly, I've received three OTA updates lately, all of them successful but there is no mentioned about the Blue Cruise update.
Also I was under the impression that the BC installation will take place and it will take a one time activation fee of $600. Now the giving you the BC update for a year and then what? Ford needs to be explain what is going to happen with BC two years from now. Anyone knows any further details?
The reason for the recalls on the windshield and pano roof were to correct the fact that insufficient adhesive was used to attach the 2 items. It has been very clear from pictures others have posted that the recalls need to be done. It’s a safety issue because in an accident the windshield could fly off, same with the roof. There is no way to tell if your car has the issue or not, but if it has been recalled it should be done. I had mine done and they were done in 2 days with no issues. As far as BC goes after the year is up I assume you’ll have the opportunity to resubscribe for the current price and years whatever that might be. If you go to the Ford website and login, then go to connected services you’ll see other items that also have a subscription period that you’ll have to pay for at some point when they expire.

The “one time” $600 activation fee was only for three years. That cost was baked into the 2021 Job 2 cars that came with BC pre installed. So their subscription will end in three years. For the 2021 Job 1 cars, Ford gave us a one year free trial as compensation for the serially delayed OTA deployment.

What happens after the free year is up is really anyone’s guess. Maybe Ford will ask for a three year subscription, maybe it will be year to year, and Ford could always increase the price.

At this point, I’m undecided whether I would pay to continue the subscription. The enhancement BC offers over standard CP360 is so relatively limited, and it falls so short of Tesla Full Self Driving, that I suspect the vast majority of owners will NOT continue subscriptions at those prices.

A dealer is advising you not to have a safety recall done? You should report that to Ford and find a new dealer. You may not know you have an issue until the windshield comes off during an accident.
Yeah, well that's not the only dealer who's said that. And given the amount of work and coordination required between two separate outside contractors in some cases, (one for the trim/body and another for the glass work), the potential for OOpsies! (and finger-blame pointing after the fact when it goes sideways), is a huge concern compared to a rational assessment of whether there appears to be water intrusion, or wind noise that might indicate that the entire fricking roof was about to come off. So again, it's probably not the only dealer who's saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Personally, I'm waiting until later in the summer to get mine done when it's warmer.

I am on the same camp Mike.
The choice was mine not to touch it either.
The dealer looked at it very carefully. They asked me all kind of questions. This is the same dealer where I have bought 5 vehicles. They know me and I trust they work on my vehicles. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade. I am not agnostic about what safety recalls are. I looked at the windshield and panoramic roof over and over again.
I looked for the obvious and the hidden defects. Couldn't find one. As with aircraft maintenance you do follow on any recall with periodic inspections every X amount of flying hours. So I will inspect periodically until I see anything unusual.

Nick.

The whole point of the recall is you can’t see the lack of adhesive regardless of how you inspect it. The only way to see that lack of adhesive is to remove the windshield and the headliner for the roof. But it’s your car and you can do what you want. A reputable dealer shouldn’t hesitate to get this work done in my opinion.

The Clock Has Started ?
My dealer just confirmed their glass company has a sufficient supply of replacement windshields, so they can go ahead with my windshield/pano recall. I asked them to do 21G01 at the same time, so we now have a race! Will the OTA for BlueCruise complete before I go in for the windshield/pano recall? This race is SO exciting ????

That was the old plan. Job 1 vehicles are getting 1 year free. I expect the $600 for 3 years will be the renewal price a year from now.

I have an appointment for the 21G01 tomorrow morning. I was told to expect my car to be there until Friday. I didn't purchase my Mach E at this dealership; however, I've had no problems working with the service department. Last May 10th in Statesville, NC, I bought my Mach E and drove it 6 hours back home to Murfreesboro, TN. Two days later, I visited the service department because the mirrors would not fold in when I locked the doors. They performed the service without hesitation even though I purchased the car from a different dealer. I showed them the letters I obtained from this forum, and they agreed to schedule the updates. They also arranged for a rental vehicle. I was told to bring in the letter stating Ford would pay for the rental car. I will use the sample letter from this forum and hope they won't deny the rental since I haven't received my letter from Ford yet.

When I visited the service department yesterday to arrange the updates, there was a brand new Mach E GT delivered. The sales folks tried to convince me to trade my Mache E for the newer model GT. I said no, but if you are looking for a Mach E, contact Ford of Murfreesboro at (615) 893-4121.

The same with my dealer also. The have one White Mach E up front charging. It either belongs to a customer or won't be staying there long. A year ago they wondered what to do with a left over Mach E. They don't have that worry any more. As soon as one is available it is gone in 3-4 days.

The photo with the headliner removed looks correct. In order to get the headliner down and out, all is the trim on the a, b, and c pillars must be removed. In order to get the trim off the b-pillars the scuff plates have to be removed. And in order to get the trim off the c-pillars, the rear seat backs have to be removed. Because of the way the trim pieces overlap you’ve got to remove a serious amount of the interior to get the headliner out without breaking it. And you don’t want them resealing them roof with the headliner still inside. That would not go well.
This was my car when it was in for the roof reseal:

Yup - This is what my dealer explained when they did this work (that they cant do it at the dealer service shop but ship to dealers body shop to get this done by a glass sub contractor). Glad I did not see these pics before my recall - I would have fainted:). I did get a lot of secure alerts at that time for various sensors off line and these pictures explain why.

I too have an appointment for Thursday, no rental options are available. They would not give me an estimate of how long it will take until I get there.
