Kyle loves the range on the MME but doesn’t like the slow charging and that even with the improvements, it’s still too slow to recharge. Also he’s hopeful that the new thermal modeling that Dickson talks about means the MME can now rip like it’s capable of doing.
Kyle seems disproportionately obsessed with DC charge speed. I would guess few if any of us go cross-country as much as he and would care as much about an extra 10-20 minutes in charge time now and then.

Monetization. His videos are that long to enable more commercials which makes YouTube and Google happy, which gives him money, which allows for more videos. Wash, rinse, repeat (ad nauseam). It's still excessive though.
I don't doubt that you are right, but it sure sounds like something is wrong with that pricing formula. Tormenting your customers with slow-moving, repetitive, boring content should not be the path to financial success.

I promise to like the post of anyone who watches the videos and posts a summary. ?

25 min and 50 min videos…….. need the 30 sec tik toc version for my short attention span. ?
Cliff Notes:
Likes the faster charge curve and more range, but feels the range was good before. Wishes that Mach e DC Rates were in the neighborhood of Ioniq5/EV6 (15 min 10%-80%). Thinks there's an issue with the thermal management on the old model, likes that they improved it, and excited to see the real world performance of said thermal management.

Kyle recognizes that most individuals don't have an issue with the charging speeds, but thinks about it from a fringe case perspective like his, so the average consumer has a better experience. It's not lost on him, he just wants better for the industry as a whole.

Loves bluecruise

Loves that they made the Performance stuff standard (Seats/Magneride)

Likes that Ford improved the motor and likes the Performance upgrade option as software.
Excited for Rally, that's the one he'd get.

Likes the pricing on Mach E, thinks it's great value, even at Premium trim.

Likes the Bronze pack, think's the Eruption Green with Bronze is the best looking option.

I don't doubt that you are right, but it sure sounds like something is wrong with that pricing formula. Tormenting your customers with slow-moving, repetitive, boring content should not be the path to financial success.

While I agree he's a bit long, he's a full on nerd. I appreciate how in depth he goes, as I am also a full on nerd, and I like the nitty gritty details.

They also talk about why they haven’t been recommending the MME compared to competitors; performance throttling (it’s a Mustang!) and slow charging.

*Never* understood why he loved the 1st gen ID.4, recommended to anyone who’d listen, but didn’t like the Mach-E.

1st Gen ID.4 was a software disaster, and meh just about everywhere else. Did a recent video on the refresh talking how it’s now a decent EV. But you loved it before and recommended it to everyone?

I’ll stop now

Honestly I don’t think he should be recommending anything. Just post content and let the viewers decide.

He’s always said the MME was a good option but has its flaws. Notably the bouncy suspension and the thermal issues (a Mustang shouldn’t cut power).

The dude definitely has a soft spot for the ID4.

I agree completely Big time when they did the race of all the difference cars and the Mach E did not come that far behind him. Made even worse by the face that Kyle was optimizing and doing everything he could to speed it up whilt the MachE Vlog more took their time and did it like you know normal people.

We did identical trips from Oceanside to Vegas (300 miles) in the past few months using a Mach-E and a Model Y. On paper, the Model Y had more range and charges faster. But in reality, the trips were nearly identical.

And if you watched that Model Y Vegas road trip video, you'll see that the Y has that awesome peak of around 250 kW but then quickly starts to ramp back to normal. If you are the type that stops at 4% and charges up to 55%, it is great. If you are like us and stop at 10% and charge to 80%, the Mach-E held its own once we get deeper into the charge.

In that original "Race to Vegas" that we did with Kyle, we were all pretty identical until we got to Green River, UT. I think the Ioniq 5 with its "18 minute 10 to 80" times was only about 15 minutes ahead of us.

Yeah, we all want more range and faster charging, but it is really overhyped - even for road trips. For many road trips, it really makes no difference. If you are the type that wants to do 600 mile days in the car, there may be a bit of an advantage.

I think the Yellow Rally is very cool looking. I wish they offered a light interior color.

Only if people watch... I watch a lot of youtube... but I no longer watch any of Kyles videos. He has wasted too much of my time with 30 minute videos and only 30 seconds of content...

it is not about going geek on EVs... I really like detailed content... when boiled down there is not much detailed content relative to the length of his videos. It's about getting to the point and not repeating yourself.

Totally agree Patrick. And the weird thing to me is range and charging anxiety seem to be more prevalent in people who don't actually own an EV. So they have no idea what it's actually like. I heard a woman looking at the Dodge Challenger prototype at the Toronto car show say "It's nice, but the charging infrastructure is just not there yet...". So I asked her if she owned an EV, and of course she said No.

The more people talk to actual owners they'll realize the stats don't really matter too much in the real world.

Yeah because there are never any threads or discussion about range anxiety and charging infrastructure here because we are EV owners. ??

Not to make all of this sound too simple but this is really it for most people and road trips. I might take two or three road trips a year. And I am not obsessed with taking my battery down to 3% and super charge at insane speed up to 60% and hit the road again for the next mad dash.
I am a 15% to 75-80 charge guy on road trips and would I like 10 less minutes sure but it’s not a deal breaker.
